IPHONE, have you heard of MIDlet?? Memory Slot?? drop & play MP3 without Itunes?? Corporate Email?? Voice Recorder?? Video Recorder?? Radio(Kmon!!!)?? Bussines Card Scanner?? MMS(You´re “Multimedia” phone!!)??? A2DP (You´re a music player too!!!)??? VPN??? Detachable Flip (almost transformer)??? 3gp??? Front Camera??? Camera Flash!??? P990 is just a high end phone without aspirations, but nothing “revolutionary” as iphone, why have better build in´s???

ok you got bigger screen, multitouch, half size, direction detection, face proximity, Ipod sucesion, coolness (yea rigth)… Iphone believers help me with this list!!!!!!

SE P990i is a great end phone from sony ericsson, its not designed for music lovers but it has got everything more then the iphone does……P990i has the Radio function and all the recording and sound effects program……But the iphone dosent has this at all…….The only thing i can see iphone wins over p990i is its sexy looks and the touch screen sensors

I totally agree with Cajie. Excellent points have been raised. Persoanlly, i use p990 myself and it’s already been with me for the last 10 months as my best friend and in that period of time it demonstrated itself in every aspect of its funcionality and efficiency. I LOVE IT. In relation to the specs of iPhone, i do have to point out that its screen size is bigger than sony’s, indeed, and that would be the only relevant comparable advantage over its competitor. However, it lacks card slot, 3G, infrared, FM radio and A2DP Bluetooth. And most of all, its lack of extra camera capabilities, being present on p990, iPhone loses its competition. iPhone’s camera is primitive and basic. Although its megapixel quality is the same as on p990 (2pixel), this does not make iPhone’s camera funcionality to be the same though, due to a number of vailid reasons. First of all, its lack of zoom capabilities, manual adjustment settings, physical button to take pictures with (only the digital button) makes its camera to be nothing more than a mere name itself. In addition, its lack of cover lid to protect the camera lens from scratches and dust will affect the quality of photos.
So, what is my purpose of this detailed comparison. For those high-end users who are in the market for a new technologically advanced device who expect their phone to perform just anything, my advice for you all is to go after P990, you won’t regret it. However, if the size of a screen is a matter of concern, iPhone would appear as the right one.

I have recently been to the apple store! and first off i want to say i am a happy owner of a sony ericsson p910i, heres what i have to say! the screen on the apple iphone rocks, the screen is more brighter compared to my p910i and i heared apple has a thing that automatically detects ambient light around and automatically adjust the screens brightness! when i compared my p910 to he iphone screen the screen of the sony p910 was really washed-out and this was indoor not out! and the multi-touch was great, great for viewing pictures and cover flow “album” other than that, thats it! typing on the other hand was really hard, if that is your really a fast texter! i mean i tried typing and the keyboard was sometimes off! my thumb nor my index finger wasnt that big! 3rd party software sucks on the iphone! unlike symbian fones! hell you cant edit excel, word, powerpoint files! only thing you can do with iphone is notes! wifi on iphone is great! cause my p910 doesnt have any! atleast you guys with p990 have it! things i love with my p910 is 1st mem card! iphone doesnt have one! 2nd i have the option to use the keypad if i want to or the touch screen! or even have the option to remove my keypad! the speaker on the iphone sucks it doesnt sound pretty loud! i was in a crowd playing a song with the iphone! nobody can hear it! i pulled my p910 out and played an mp3 and everybody noticed it! 3rd batteries! need i say more! with apple you have to have it serviced to replace the batteries! with sony p910 or any other model you can bring along spares! i have decuma alphabet on my p910 where in which i can write on the screen continuously and the fone automatically recognizes it, not letter per letter like typing! i mean word per word! thing i dont like about my p910 its fat compared to iphone, iphone is sleek and sexy!

would i buy an iphone! yes, as my backup phone or just to impress somebody! but other than that! i have everything i could possibly have on my p910 and more! and atleast im not tied to at&t or any other network company! cause you can buy sony fones unlocked! :-) thank you sony!

i was thinking seriously considering buying an iphone i have the money! even thou i have a sony p910! but i think a sony ericsson w950 or m600i would be better! i know iphone has 8gb of memory but would the iphone be able to play 8gb of song continuously without charging? nope! at least with w950! i can play that whole 4gb of songs! and if i run out of battery! i just plug in a new one! :-) only thing is w950 also doesnt have a mem card! but i heared from a sony rep that you can plug the w950 via usb to any computer and it will act as mass storage device! so thank you again sony! no need for itunes! just to upload your music! now that i am typing this comment! yup at the surface iphone really rocks! mainly because of its multi-touch! but deep beneath its hell to work with! i dont want itunes to manage my mp3s! doesnt apple understand not all of us, almost everybody in the world doesnt use a mac! so why force itunes! a friend of mine gave me an ipod and heck it was hard just trying to transfer music to it!

i guess thats it! if your a die hard core apple fan then iphone is for you! or your a rich kid who has money to spare, and just want to be the new kid on the block to say you have iphone then iphone is for you! but i tell you, later on you will get disappointed! if you have ever tried a sony symbian fone! you’ll appreciate what i just have said!

ps my p910 only comes with a 640×480 camera and thats zip compared to iphone 2megapixel cam! but hey i have my canon s3 is for taking pics!

and i do believe that sony’s camera are the best around specially the cybershot phones! even the p990’s camera really take great pictures, not to mention the new w960i

all i have to say is i guess i would wait until the next iphone maybe the 4th gen iphone! iphone is new to the phone market and sony has been there for sometime now!

With Iphone you can´t work with word, excel and powerpoint documents, you don´t have handwritting recognition. This is the problem that stop me from buying Iphone, and still usign P990

im not a pro in gadgets and stuff but i have some experience. SE phones are great, they have very useful features. The iphone is great too, but it doesnt came with something knew, all of the features in the iphone already existed in other phones like SE P�s and other brand smartphones with symbian. the p990 looks great too, if you remove the number keyboard.

I loved SE Phones and have been an owner of the p800, P910, P990 & p1i All exelent products. However, recently i purchased an iPhone in the USA and activated and unlocked the phone to work in the UK and i have to say This product really does put SE to shame. The iphone is a work of art.

Someone needs to compare iPhone with SE P1i. I own a P1i and it’s a superb phone. Fast, responsive, untuitive, straight to the point ease of use, packed full (literally) of features that work well, small form factor, 1hand or 2hand use… on top of that, SE provides a suite of free office productivity software in the phone as well as giving you 7 or so paid software for free from their website. Someone do Iphone + SE P1i please.

Iphone is cool….but there is a BIG BUT!!!!
Unless you only an image chaser, then the iphone has little to offer for the business class. Say that again? Iphone can’t do doc, excel, view pdf? Thus, rich kids or wanna-be-rich-kids would see the justification for the iphone.
Until business application is implemented, the iphone is USELESS piece of vibrator (in my opinion). P990i is solid, and P1 is awsome!!!

For the techies, go for the p990i.
For the stylish techies who don’t want to carry extra fats, go for the iphone :)

Anyone who would say they would choose P990i over iphone if they have a choice between the two and its free, is a hypocrite.

IPhone really shines in design, display size and resolution. Is undoubtedly thin too.
P990 is fat and ugly, but comparing iPhone with new P1i I think is a sad story for the apple product. SE phone still looses in display size and resolution, but after that I think it plays in a higher league.
It’s lighter, it’s more opened and have more external software, has a better camera, the smaller display can be compensated with a keyboard (the virtual on the iPhone occupies space), has 3G support, Opera is a much better browser than Safari by a hundred miles, video calls, much faster to operate as a phone, buttons are our friends (that wheel is so nice), cheaper, you can change batteries, you can upgrade flash memory, looks good too, A2DP support (in a music device is hard to find iPhone don’t support it), etc….

SE 990i is a bulky phone, but it has almost every thing in it…..Easy navigation, big screen, large memory support unto 4GB, but many ppl say that it supports unto 8GB. I have myself never tried with 8GB. I am using 1 GB Card….convert all your fav movies to .mp4 format n watch on SE P990i amazing!!!I look good when standing on a Dock Cradle…

Speaker is not at all loud, but with ear phones it rocks…put the equalizer on BASS and listen Akon..I wanna love u..u will rock…..

SE P990i’s keypad can be removed with the supplied screw driver.

SE supports S60 with uia OS…This means you can download available applications in P990i…

I just bought a P990i & its an Amazing Phone.
Its got an additional QWERTY keyboard( apart from one on TouchScreen), so we can easily type in the letters instead of always using the TOuch Screen.. It provides us multiple ways to enter data into phone. Also, the expandable memory feature is good. dnt really need a HardDisk. The Flap feature is cool. It Sure culd be enhanced much more to take on I-phone. Im looking fr a ROCKING P1000i in 2009. For now, P990i ROCKS!

iphone for not so smart VS P990 for very smart
