The Horror
My brother dropped his MacBook on the floor and broke the screen.
So i was working on a project in the computer lab and listening to music from my macbook with my headphones, i got up to get something, and the headphone cable was wrapped around my leg, and the macbook fell to the ground, hitting the top part of the screen and the bottom part of the keyboard against the ground, it didn’t fall that far, and i kind of cushioned it by putting a leg out, it was too far to reach to catch. But it was enough to fuck up the screen. So now I’m screenless.
Surprisingly a new screen costs only $80 on eBay!

My HP laptop’s keyboard got messed up as I used the canned spray to clean it. Redington charged me 30KD! The same keyboard was available for 45$ online but since I had some urgent project to finish, I had to get it fixed ASAP…
Good luck, better buy a new laptop. They have a fragile assembly and if not properly fixed, will cause a domino effect on hardware failures…

lol…mac…
17. Patrick | March 17th, 2009 at 9:59 pm
Yeah, its a Mac.
I love how PC users think if I had a HP or something that this could have been avoided. Would the HP laptop automatically grow wings as its falling to the ground and fly to safety? So enough with those lameass “…Mac” or “lol Mac” or “…Mac lol” comments. lol… Bill Gates!

Your brother is one clumsy dude; he should be in a comedy flick.
21. Nasser | March 18th, 2009 at 12:09 am
I don’t think if you had HP that it would be avoided. Of course the screen would break regardless of the brand. That’s just a silly assumption your making.
I just said “lol…mac…” because of a recent article on an apple forum saying macs are much more durable than any other computer. Which is false, as they all break the same.

Macs are not weak. Shit happens!
23. Patrick | March 18th, 2009 at 1:22 am

I have a big speck of dust inside my Sony Vaio’s screen.. Do I have to change the whole screen to remove it ??? :(
25. Holla | March 18th, 2009 at 12:32 pm
My cat jumped on my old sony vaio while i was using it and it flipped and fell down hard on the ceramic floor. Nothing happened to it all, didn’t even need to restart it.
Macs are just fucking weak, sorry.
26. Patrick | March 18th, 2009 at 1:16 pm
Holla:
I doubt your Vaoi screen hit the ground directly. Before this, I had a 12″ Powerbook, I dropped that against asphalt and ceramic ground and nothing happened to it, just got a little dent.
It all has to do with luck and little different circumstances.
27. Stafa | March 18th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
Actually it all has to do with the angle it falls in
28. KA fan | March 18th, 2009 at 3:53 pm
Sorry but I MUST agree with holla because I have a Sony Saio SR and it’s better than my friend’s macbook air :) I tried macs and know how to use them but I think PC’s are better because they are half the price of macs (macbook air = $1799, with no optical drive, 1 usb port, and no fire-wire port. Sony TT/Z series varies from $1599.99 – $3,000 (Can only reach $3k+ if you want the best of your machine, but if you want to settle with the basics, its either $1599 for Z or $2050 for TT series). Of course, these include optical drive, 2-3 USB ports, VGA output, fingerprint reader for security, removable battery which can last up to 9 hours, and a good-looking design.)
Conclusion: PC’s > MACS!!!!

It would have not broken into a thousand pieces if it fell on a rug or a carpet. Long story short, buy wireless/bluetooth headsets. How about the ones Mark reviewed for Al Ghanim? :o)
30. Mark | March 18th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
they were wired
31. faisal | March 18th, 2009 at 6:53 pm

35. ohyeah | March 18th, 2009 at 9:07 pm
i forgot to say what i wanted to say!!! 80$ is cheeeeeeaaaaaaaaap all other laptops costs atleast 90 kd not $!!! this means mac better for us as users
36. Akbar | March 18th, 2009 at 10:11 pm

37. Dave | March 18th, 2009 at 10:53 pm
All this argument about PCs vs Macs is just daft. Honestly, do you spend time arguing with your friends about the merits of LG refrigerators vs Bosch? Who cares if it’s a Mac or a PC? They’re just computers. They both do the job.
38. Mark | March 18th, 2009 at 10:53 pm
Bosch > LG
39. Patrick | March 19th, 2009 at 1:54 am
How can you compare a Macbook Air to a Macbook? Laptops are laptops, if you drop them on the floor something is bound to happen.
40. Moey | March 19th, 2009 at 2:27 am
Patrick, best of luck in projects :S
41. Nasser | March 19th, 2009 at 2:52 pm
Mark you Bosch whore, LG is 10x better than Bosch, It gives you more space for your money.
42. mazen | March 21st, 2009 at 6:41 pm
if u have any data that u urgently need, u can connect the laptop to another mac using a fire wire cable and start it while holding the T button on ur keyboard, then it will show as an external hard disk on the other mac.
