The Millennium Bridge

After finishing work today I decided to walk along the river past the London Eye. I actually thought I was walking back to the hotel but only after around an hour walk did I realize I was actually heading the wrong way. As I was about to turn back I noticed an interesting looking bridge in the distance. Turned out it was the Millennium Bridge which I had seen in pictures before. Its a pedestrian bridge that stretches out across the River Thames and it looks really futuristic because of its low profile. I took the picture above before I got on the bridge and the one below from the bridge.

Here are links to better pictures I found on Flickr.

Thats the TATE museum at the bottom, the brown building which was a factory before. One of my favorite museums to date.

Nice design, reminded me of Calatrava work. However, the did poor job on the supporting piers. They don’t fit the concept.

Mark, I suggest you go to the Emirates stadium tomorrow (26th) if you have the time, since there’s going to be a gathering of many people dancing, singing, performing all sorts of things in order to get a spot on the Fabregas show. If you’re interested by any change. :)

Did you go to the Tate Modern? It’s just across from where you were (the bridge), it’s amazing and some of the exhibitions are incredible. Plus the little restaurant at the museum has some great lunch dishes :)
