UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi

I just found out that UFC 112 is going to take place in Abu Dhabi. Not only that but BJ Penn, Matt Hughes, Anderson Silva, Vitor Belfort and Renzo Gracie are all scheduled to fight! I’ve been wanting to watch a UFC fight for ages but always found it too expensive to travel to the US or Europe just to watch a fight and come back but Abu Dhabi is right next door. I would really have liked to watch a Frank Mir or GSP fight but Anderson Silva is the next best thing and BJ Penn and Matt Hughes are also really fun to watch so it should be a blast.

UFC 112 is taking place on April 10th. Can’t wait to get my tickets, I really want something on the floor around the octagon. [Link]

Note: If anyone knows where I can get tickets from (like super good blood splatter zone seats) please tell me.

    Mark,

Thanks for putting on your main page.

If you haven’t seen it got to sherdog.com, it one of the best mma sites.

I am not sure it will be like it is in vegas, but i would imagine a lot of us troops will go, so i hope the locals can handle the atmosphere.

At UFC 101 the fights in the crowd were better than those in the cage!!!!

Not a fan of Mir personally, find him to much of a b**ch. More a fan of Minatoro Noguiera.

  12. Mark says:

I used to think Mir was a bit of a dick but he grew onto me and the way he’s gotten into great shape now I can’t wait till a rematch with Brock Lesnar once he gets better. There are sooo many great fighters. I just watched the Anderson Silva vs Forrest Griffin fight again from UFC 101, I really can’t wait to see him at 112. Whats surprising me the most if the lack of UFC fans around me. I think I know just two people into UFC which is very weird. Its the ultimate sport..

  13. Mark says:

Wait dude, were you at UFC101???

  14. R. Halamer says:

“always found it too EXCEPT” ? Too much excitement will do that to you lol.

  15. Mark says:

    oops i meant expensive

  16. Haitham says:

I was at UFC 101 also, that fight you’re referring to in the stands was hilarious, zohak. Nobody’s eyes were on the cage during that. And Silva’s knockout of Griffin was insane.

I’ve been keeping an eye out on mmajunkie.com for confirmation of the Abu Dhabi event but haven’t seen any yet. I hope it’s true about all those great fighters being there but I doubt it; people will go to this event no matter who is on the card so why would they put Silva vs Belfort on it?

  17. nahin123 says:

did any1 watch paul daley’s KO at ufc 108, dat guy has sum crazy power..he is GsP/dan hardy’s nxt opponent for sure.. I wud luv to fight him if he stays in MMA for long

  18. EXzombie says:

a Hughes v.s Renzo fight, and Machida v.s Silva should be amazing!

only thing left is a heavy weight fight between Rampage and Evans

    will be there

  19. Lexicon says:

sadly no one is close to GSP in the welterweight division….neither hardy or daley…but UFC likes to hype up the opponents to make it seem like they could beat gsp but its not gonna happen…remember thiago alves?

  20. Paccoz says:

I m so watcing this fight in Abu Dhabi…. I am always missing work when there’s a Fight on showsports 4 @ 5am

  21. nahin123 says:

@ Lexicon – lol ur soo true…he has kicked everybody’s ass in da welterweight division(literally)….now only thing to do is head on to middle weight n face anderson silva…anderson silva dominated Cage Rage back then jus like GsP doin now in UFC

**Ive watched Anderson Silva’s boxing instructional like a 100 times n da head movements he teaches in dat r soo easy to do but it really annoys da opponent n den he tends to move forward n attack…dats wen u strike a JAB n finish him off….LMAO

UFC in Abu Dhabi will be huge!
First of all there is 70 Brazilian teachers in the Emirates team!
Then about 75 student in Abu Dhabi and 25 in Dubai (Regular only) in the BJJ clubs and probably another half in the MMA club
Then BJJ is the official sport of the army here and the local kids learn it at School (2 hours a week)
Then HH Sheikh Mohammed al Nayan along with his brother Sheikh Tahnoon (Plus sons and friends) are well experienced in MMA and BJJ
So many people love the sport around the region that there will be a lot of people!

Can’t wait to be there and maybe we will be lucky and can even train with some (GSP was in Abu Dhabi around Xmas!)

  23. B_G_T_R says:

what a violent sport. if we really should even call it a sport…. worest thing is that they do it for money!

  24. Mark says:

B_G_T_R: So professional athletes should play for free? Its ok for football and basketball players to make money but not for professional fighters?

  25. B_G_T_R says:

Mark: frankly I don’t think one should make money while hurting another person. the violance part of UFC is what bothers me not the money factor

  26. Aziz West says:

    B_G_T_R ur gay.

  27. Haniya says:

Aziz West: and ur a coward. saying this while hidding behind your computer

  29. okays! says:

B_G_T_R: MMA is not about just punching and hurting your opponent… there is a lot of tactics involved in the sport, which makes it very interesting…
90% of the fights both fighters end up saluting each other and respect each other…

  30. aytchster says:

Well it looks like these fights are in plan:

    Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort
    BJ Penn vs. Frankie Edgar
    Matt Hughes vs. Renzo Gracie
    Kendall Grove vs. TBC
    Roy Nelson vs. TBC

    AWESOME!!!!!

    I’m booking me tickets soon!!!

  31. aytchster says:

Oh..do you guys know any good hotels in abu dhabi? Im thinking of taking a suite with my friend (a group of 5 guys or so)

    Any recommendations at all?

And I’d like to not pay a lot of money =D

  32. Mark says:

Roy Nelson? URGH I’ve hated him since episode 1 of ultimate fighter and then more when he beat Kimbo.

  33. OhNo says:

I hate to love Roy Nelson, but hes one hell of a fat dude, with massive ground impound…

  34. aytchster says:

Hehe yea I can’t stand him…trying to impress Dana White like Dana’s his early high school crush.

He needs to get over himself definitely, BUT he’s one hell of a fighter man!! That crusifix he does pays dividends!

Anyways, from what the usual ticket prices for UFC events look like I don’t think it’s going to be an affordable trip! I mean, when I went to Dubai Desert Rock Festival it really didn’t cost all that much at all!!! But with the UFC, the show tix alone are going to be around KD 100!!!!

  35. heema says:

The event still not confirmed as they are still working on having a proper indoor arena to hold the event, maybe thats why tickets are not out yet !

    source: http://www.mmaconvert.com/2010/01/15/ufc-112-may-not-happen-in-abu-dhabi/

  36. van demon says:

It has been confirmed and will be held at the new ferrari world complex, first outdoor ufc event. tickets are not on sale as of yet and unless an outside company organises the event it will be shite.

  37. [...] UFC 112 is still on for Abu Dhabi this April and the ticket prices have been announced as [...]
