What the dunk?

These sneakers are called “What the dunk” and they are by Nike. They were originally released for $129 but now fetch over $1500 on ebay. If I paid $1500 for shoes I would wear them pretty often so the question here is how do you keep sneakers that cost $1500 from getting old and worn out? [Link]

That’s a big bowl of ugly!
Anyone who wears such shoes should be torched, then spit on..
..except you!
(’cause I can’t directly diss you.)

The more pressing question is, why would anyone want to wear those ridiculous shoes for free, much less pay $1500 for them?

See what people don’t understand is that outside of Kuwait is a big culture called ” SNEAKER HEADZ “. Me being part of that culture, I understand why Nike made those. It’s shoe made up of different shoes that were released back in the day that people went crazy for! So before you start to diss on something, make sure you understand the history behind it! Don’t be so judgmental.

Just because YOU think they’re ugly, doesn’t mean everyone else will. I like them, not something I’d wear, but they’re colorful and unique :)

Panamaniac, we are really glad you know the history of sneakers. And some of us grew up outside of this little bubble they call Kuwait so we know they were hot back in the day. However those sneakers that people used to go crazy for were and are fugly. And if you like them and would like to wear them, then you can be sure that you will look silly and most of us will laugh at you.

Punky,
All I’m saying is that its a collectors Item. Not something you wear. I know about three people that have actually bought them ( Not for the 1500 tag on it ) and they just keep them up in their house, Sort of like a piece of art. Some sneakers I have I would NEVER wear! Some sneakers are just to collect.

First thing is that these ARE a collectors item and they represent the past 6 years in Nike Dunk Culture which is why they may seem like a “hot mess”, but to those who were wearing Dunks well before Lupe Fiasco and the Cool Kids, it reps 6 years of people asking “Where’d you get those???” (see book by Bobbito garcia)
Second, fashion, my friends, is about moving forward and progression. Nothing has ever come out like this and this is definitely a move forward. Do you have to like them??? No, but then again, who likes EVERYTHING their favorite designer drops???
And last, if you are going try to get a pair, just know that
1) the come in a GOLD box, not the pink SB box, or the regular orange Nike box and the gold box has a sticker on it that says “WHAT THE DUNK”.. Fake shoes are not cool!
Peace
