12 Year Old McDonalds Burger
One of the burgers pictured above is 12 years old can you guess which one? If like me you guessed it was the one on the right then you also got it wrong because the burger on the left is the one dated from 1996. Still looks pretty fresh. [Link]

wooow :/ Yeah, I thought it was the one on the right too..
I’m impressed… and a little grossed out to tell you the truth :p
2. moose | September 26th, 2008 at 2:18 am

SO I HERD U EAT 12 YEAR OLD BURGERS..
3. Kha | September 26th, 2008 at 2:44 am
Makes you wonder what kind of stuff they put on their food for it to last this long! I’m sorry but if it doesn’t get digested in 12 years outside my body, why would it inside it?
4. Lucky_Boy | September 26th, 2008 at 3:00 am
Scam, totally.
I study in one of the medical fields, and I can assure you that there is no way food can survive open-air environment without ending up with cultivation of fungus, parasites, insects and lastly oxidation/photolysis reactions.
Reading his reasoning page made me LOL :

5. Exquisite | September 26th, 2008 at 3:06 am
Still, the one on the left hand looks comparatively very fresh… and
@Kha: I agree with you, if they cannot be deteriorated outside our bodies for 12 years, then imagine what it does to our bodily systems…
You know for some weird reason I am thinking what a way to Mummify McDonald big’Macs :) …
6. ilsul6ana | September 26th, 2008 at 3:31 am
ewwwww…il7amdilaaa i hardly eat fast food!
7. hot mug | September 26th, 2008 at 3:48 am
@ #3 Kha, because your body possesses digestion enzymes so its forced to be digested anyway.
It’s yuck though
8. Labeeb | September 26th, 2008 at 3:50 am
Seriously, Is there a scientific explanation for this???!!!
9. fLuff | September 26th, 2008 at 4:05 am
Because of the way you asked (kinda tricky).. I had to choose the left one, against my logic.
That’s why they call it JUNK food..
10. Khaled | September 26th, 2008 at 4:14 am
man, but seriously, nothing can prove this to be true or not, i mean comparing the buns, most fresh burgers would actually look like the one on the left..
11. Basit | September 26th, 2008 at 4:28 am
i dont buy it.
the one on the right is the older one.
12. Abid | September 26th, 2008 at 4:53 am
Yeah I chose the one on the left too, beucase I figured they put the wrapper on under it to make you pick the other one :P
13. Nael | September 26th, 2008 at 12:53 pm
I think this is partly BS, have you watched supersizeme? Here’s the part that shows that Mc burgers decay and rot (at least the bun):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmL6lnJJyIE
Don’t tell me it’s because they were placed in a jar, it doesn’t matter, the fact that it was placed in a jar is to speed up the decaying process (depending on surrounding temperature, moist and some other factors of course)
The bun in the picture above didn’t even rot or catch a single fungi which makes me think this whole thing is BS. Think!
Who knows, maybe she kept it in the freezer for 12 years and suddenly decided to bring it out and claim it was kept intact for 12 years. A single picture doesn’t explain much.
Try it yourself, buy a Mac burger, and just keep the bun out for a couple of weeks, I’m sure it’ll rot.

I just went to the link, just to make sure that the one on the left was older, and there weren’t any statement the said which one of them was older.
15. Mark | September 26th, 2008 at 1:40 pm
If you went to the link like you actually said then you would have read the first line which says “The McDonald’s hamburger on the right is from 2008; the one on the left is from 1996. And they both look fairly edible.”

a coupla years ago, i watched super size me and read a fast food nation in the space of 2 weeks, rarely if ever eat fast food since.. scary stuff ..
18. dj_will | September 26th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
they did the same thing withh mcdonalds french fries …. and compared em to other fries from other places … all of them went bad and rotted within the first week … the mcD ones though .. lasted 3 months plus … its cause they use this type of grease .. (kinda like industrial grease) … it becomes rubbery when cold !!
19. Purgatory | September 26th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
So will you review the 1996 burger?
20. gilly | September 26th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
Well, depending on how you’re sitting at the table, the left burger can be the right one :P
But either way, no sign of fungus or any nasty alien colony type things growing on it, which is pretty scary.

I guess with all these preservatives in our food, our shit will be preserved for thousands of years!! People in the future will probably be studying our fosilized shit wondering how our shit hadn’t decomposed just like our scientist wonder about the mummies of Egypt. LOL :p

Yum. McDonalds. Love it.
Super Size Me is such a BS movie it’s not even amusing, if you believe whatever is in that crappy “movie” then you’ve got issues.
That’s like believing everything Michael Moore says, its called ENTERTAINMENT people.
Jebus.

this video actually shows some of the preservatives that are added to the bun+pattie to help it survive for a month or so, it might last longer maybe if you add more preservatives

33. Moca | September 27th, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Gross!!! I’m gonna think again when I go to McDonald’s…
Speaking of burgers, Mark what happened to the best burger contest? Did I miss something, did it end or is it still on the run?
34. Nael | September 27th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
Super Size Me didn’t entertain me, what it did was informing me of some of the things that an “average” individual doesn’t see or hear and sometimes “understand” everyday.
Great documentary. :)
Maybe people should bring up evidence on how those type of program Moore, Spurlock.. etc brought to us were such a BS before condemning that they were BS, after all, they brought evidence and you didn’t. I know “Family guy” and such are easy to understand, but come on, put a little bit more effort to use more brain cells than you usually do. :)
35. Patrick | September 28th, 2008 at 12:06 am
Inform you? Really?
There was another documentary were a guy just ate McDonalds for a month, and he actually lost weight.
Super Size Me did nothing, just tried to cause controversy and thats what it accomplished in doing.
Family Guy is quite awesome. too. Blue Harvest FTW.
36. Mark | September 28th, 2008 at 12:19 am
then you have Ryan Lochte who was only eating McDonalds in China and he won 4 gold medals
http://olympics.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/08/15/a-steady-diet-of-medals-and-fast-food/
37. J | September 29th, 2008 at 6:20 am
He won 4 medals, 2 of which were Gold and 2 of which were Bronze, not 4 gold medals =p.
