How can one say NOT to try it? The entire population eats it without problems and even people from abroad often like it.
A proper kroket is made with veal/beef. Of course there are variaties with other kinds of meat, but people may get the impression that there are all kinds of different meats in one and the same kroket.

An ordinary kroket as meant here is not made with cheese or potatoes, but with a roux/ragoût.

I tried this thing at the Schipol airport on my way back to the US. All I can say is DONT EAT THIS! This glob o goo made me so sick I thought my stomach flipped over. I still don’t know what was in it, but it sort of looked and tasted like a fried blob of cream of mushroom soup. Avoid this disaster on a bun and stick with the chicken nuggets.

Maaike is right. Def try the van Dobben Kroket @ a proper Febo. If you like the kroket, you’d def like the Frikadel as well. Try it.

As to the exact ingredients of the original Kroket and Frikadel: the Dutch are very efficient and economic and they do not waste anything. All meat left-overs (read organs, intestines etc) are processed in preparing these delicious krokets.

As well as the “bitterballen”; sort of a kroket but then small and round. Available on any good terrace and the best with some dutch cheese and a beer…
