Your definition of a Canadian seems bit quaint. Anyone with a Canadian passport is a Canadian – atleast according to the government of Canada.
Correct me if I am wrong.

If you have a Canadian passport, you are a Canadian citizen; unless you’re a spy.

Blackberries aren’t the only things from Canada. There’s Hockey, basketball, first phone. wolverine….etc
