Vimto – Non Alcoholic?

I never noticed this before but the Vimto bottle says its non-alcoholic. Which brings me to my question, is there an alcoholic version of Vimto?

Very very interesting facts and the history of Vimto in here

    http://juzzzy.blog.co.uk/2008/05/01/one-hundred-years-of-vimto-4118010/

it is 101 years old! they also mention how it was spread in middle east and Kuwait!

As for the alcoholic Vimto :

“It has been known for people to mix Vimto with alcoholic beverages, however the recently fashionable alcoholic cocktail known as “Cheeky Vimto”, actually contains none – being just a perplexing mixture of WKD Original Vodka Blue with ruby port.’

They slap on some non-alcoholic copy because some people generally assume that a glass bottle of that shape, design and color could be alcoholic.

  6. !BOOJi says:

probably some people think its wine if they look at it

  7. pinkdress says:

    ha! interesting, but i wouldn’t know. i simply don’t drink vimto…

  8. ariston says:

Vimto an alcoholic drink? I wished! :)

  9. Abeer A says:

Yeah I think it’s just because of the design of the bottle and the fact that it’s a grap drink people may think it’s a type of wine :)
    Love vimto during ramadan!

  10. Fiddler on the Roof says:

As a child of the 70s I would often get drunk on Vimto, the non alcoholic version, that is. Drinking tons of it gives rise to attention span deficit disorders, as I found out the hard way.

Mark you should try the diet vimto carbonated drink,, AMAZING!

  12. N says:

Well, I dont know about you but I always get drunk after my 3rd glass of vimto. Ramadan is comming Wooha

  13. mb says:

    Must… drink… vimto…

  14. Sfsa78 says:

When you’re breaking fast during ramathan, the first thing your body needs is lots of water. Imagine what all that sugar does to you when u are already dehydrated and your blood is almost already syrupy in texture. It’s bound to give you a headache.

  15. OOJ says:

I love vimto! Ramadan is not the same without it

  16. JoJo says:

“None Alcoholic” is just a disclaimer. Try vimto with Priere water .You get a lovely carbonated beverage.Taste like a drink in the 50′s called Sinalco, bottled by Behbehani.

  17. N says:

I say again, Ramadan is comming, Wooha

  18. Mark says:

Vimto with priere, thats interesting need to try it.

  19. Dj. says:

Never saw that non-alchohol on many vimto bottles although it would be nice to have an alchoholic version =)

  20. lensman says:

    @jojo,
Yeah, when I was a kid, I would mix vimto with soda… havent had that in ages…

  21. Angelistic says:

Now this is interesting :) never saw it too :p

  22. A.Albaz says:

Sinalco was re-introduced to the market a couple of years back. I never see it on the shelves any more ever since Magic got introduced.

    I miss you Sinalco :(

  23. JoJo says:

    Al Baz,

Do not miss Sinalco, just add Perier to Vimto & ice,,,,Wola you got your own Sinalco factory !! Yest it was re-introduced mostly in cans but it disapeared again,,,,, may be purchased by Aujan to eliminate competition

  24. Tata Botata says:

I’ve wondered about that for the longest time, deep inside I like to believe that such magical drink actually exists.

  25. faisal says:

hehe yaa i just noticed today on the street… but dont u have to add water with vimto cuz drinking it by it self is kinda nasty…soo i wonder how it would tast if it was alcaholic…:P
And dont u think that ppl here only drink vimto in Ramadan.. Guess thats the only time they acctually advertise for it..:P

  26. JoJo says:

Vimto is consumed all year long specially in summer & Ramadan as a refreshing drink to quench thurst & boost sugar deprivation after fasting. This year Ramadan is in Summer so effective ads r needed.
Also Vimto is ditributed as a free drink to people attending Husainyas & passers-by for 40 days begining month of Muharram,, so the Importer Alujan made enough money to start a botteling plant in Saudi Arabia

  27. mb says:

You know I did try that Perier with Vimto, makes the perier taste a lot better.

  28. Tariq says:

iagree with you on Ramadan association but this year i will boycout Vimto
have you seen their AD on the streets of saudi arabia if not ill tell you they used the last two letters of VIMTO lable next to a full lable to read as ( TO VIMTO) with two bottles toching each other the meeseg is (cheeeeeeeeeeeers) i hated it and was very disturb by the company message and will call the company on saturday to give them a piece of my mind. it outraguse that they use such message for such holy month hill with vimto this year ill do fine with out it.

  29. JoJo says:

    Tariq,

Lighten up !! Why everything has to be related to religion
!!! لماذا دائما نظرية المؤامره ؟
YOu can drink VIMTO to your health or to mine since it is entering your body ( and therefore you don’t want it to be Bad To You !! )
,,, as long as VIMTO is not forbidin !!
The statement TO Your Health Or To Vimto or Cheeeeeers as you say does not offend Islam or Ramadan

  30. pinkdress says:

    JoJo,

In reality, u can’t actually drink “to” anyone or anything. Before you drink or eat or in fact do anything in life, you say, “BismAllah.” So literally as a Muslim, using the statement “to … whatever” is incorrect, maybe even haram. It has nothing to do with conspiracy, just facts.

  31. JoJo says:

    Pinkdress,,,,

We either speak English or Speak ” Islam ” which is not a language . I also saw the poster & never saw it in the same way Tariq saw it ,,, as there is no conspiracy theory in my mind,,,,

  32. pinkdress says:

    JoJo…

I haven’t seen the poster so i have nothing else to add, but allow me to disagree: if some english expressions go “against” our culture or religion then i believe it is best not to use them, period.

  33. Tariq says:

    jojo,
i have not implied that there is any conspircy theory in my post my point is what (pinkdress) was trying to explain the metaphor used to comunicate to muslims in the holy month of Ramadan is absolutly redicules and wrong to drink to somthing with two glass touching each other is always assosiated with Alchole consumtion and to say otherwise is naiev?
what i was trying to highlight is this is a hourable mistake by the company to overlook such refrences in its AD campaign, i tried to load a photo of the AD but couldnt find it in the streets. tough luck.
sorry for so many spilling mistake :(
