Sony Vaio P

Has anyone purchased the tiny Vaio P netbook yet? They’re selling on Amazon for around KD260. Its more expensive than the regular netbooks costing around twice as much but it’s also less than half the size.

dont know about the netbook though

  2. fyi says:

they don’t you calling this a netbook, and it doesn’t even have a LAN port

mine will be here in 2 weeks and directly from Japan. It is Atom 1.82 and not the 1.6Ghz processor.

irrelevant to the subject but I came across this Sony VAIO VGN-CS180J/Q 14.1-Inch Laptop (2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, Blu-ray Drive, Vista Premium) for ONLY $999

If not mistaken, I saw this in Eurica for more than 500KD can someone confirm this ?

    fyi:

LAN port and VGA port is in a separate external small module.

One of the reviews says that there will be an upgraded version after a while, so don’t waste your money now and wait for upgrades.

I’m currently using a VGN-TX27GP, it’s one of the smallest VAIO laptops and this VAIO P is smaller and has the same features as my current laptop and even better in some things, it will make a good replacement.

VAIOs in general are fine. I should mention though that even though my VAIO has endured a lot, yet one day the hard disk died and everything was gone, I replaced it for 100KD, other than that everything has been okay with my VAIO, I have been using it for years now.

On another note, aren’t narwhals awesome!? I made up my mind about my next laptop, thanks for sharing Mark.

I think I’ll stick to $350 netbooks for the throw in a bag stuff.

my brother just recived one today, it looks great in dark red. i loved the keybord but didnt check it out yet since he was taking it out of the box while i was leaving the house..
ill let u know once i get my hands on it.

  9. Mark says:

    Halicy please do!

  10. HeartBeat says:

    The M Code:

This is NOT faster than your laptop! Yours is Pentium 1.2 Ghz and this is Atom 1.3 Ghz.

Atom processors are made for netbooks cause of their tiny size and less power consumption.

I was asking the same thing, I’m looking to get it from UK because the US model has EVDO mobile broadband locked to Verizon, the UK/Europe model does not it’s for 849 pounds but still you get to insert your sim card into the compartment below the battery and get HSDPA/3G Internet, saves that dongle for you.

I am trying to see if any UK stores have it in stock so I would let someone get it from me there, so if anyone knows where it’s available I’d appreciate to know about it.

    Thanks

I forgot the design number but the 10 inch Vaio is selling for 650+ KD at Sony which is really absurd. I’m sure the 8 will be hitting 900 or something.

You can get Macbook Air refurbished for $999 at Apple Store with faster processor, bigger HDD, and without Vista.

Can the build-int Satellite (GPS) work in Kuwait or only USA?

  17. KA fan says:

Oh and mark, when you arrived from Dubai – Kuwait via wataniya airways first class, were you taken from the aircraft – the terminal via private car or did you have to get stuck with other passengers onboard?

  18. kwt23 says:

I wouldn’t go with a Sony Vaio…It’s all eye candy and no substance. Sony is only good (i think) for cameras, tv’s and ps3.

  19. K.TheKuwaiti says:

Arrived last week .. very cool device, it has vga/lan capability with a samll attachment.

  20. Bumishari says:

Received it yesterday, light n lovely. seems great for size. weight and the extra wide screen is perfect. as am a Mac user. the preloaded vista feels packed with unnecessary software. guess i need to get used to it. Sony insists that it’s a notebook not a netbook!

  21. Southerner says:

One of my friends has it. It’s quite small and light, he brings it everyday to school. I think it’s quite nice, but a Sony Vaio’s doesn’t really have a good reputation.

  22. lfc-q8 says:

i think its way over priced, me personly im waiting for the dell mini 10 and if u dont want to wait then the asus 1000he would be great but the dell mini 10 should have an hdmi port and an hd screen

  23. ZooMi says:

hey mark i just got the new vaio 4 days ago :P
any special info or spec u need about it ?

i did recieved the red one ill try to get u some real pics. soon .

  24. Mark says:

lfc-q8: I already added the 1000HE to my wish list. The keyboard plus the 8 hour battery life makes it very tempting. AND it costs only KD110.

  25. Dave says:

Haven’t you already got a netbook Mark? I think I’ll wait for a major processor upgrade, Ion or whatever, before I get shot of my 1000H. The 1000HE is just another minor upgrade to allow them to release yet another model (to add to the 2000 they’ve already released in this segment).

  26. holla says:

vaios are awesome, my last one lasted me for years until i sold it with no problems. My new TZ (11″screen, DVD drive) is the smallest full-function laptop on the market. sony know their shit.

  27. lfc-q8 says:

mark what other netbook u have on ur list as im waiting on the dell minhi 10 for now till its released and the asus is 2nd option i dont know what do u have on ur list? or what u recomend?

  28. Halicy says:

mark: bu Mishari above is my bro who got it

  29. Jacqui says:

@Halicy, where did your brother get it from? And which version is it?

@HeartBeat, But I want the red one and it says “1 to 2 months to dispatch” kind of long for it :/

@K, where did you order yours from?
