iPhone Vs. iPod Touch

ipod vs iphone

I was trying to figure out if I should get the iPhone or the iPod Touch for Nat and in the end decided on the iPhone. The iPhone has a few extra features over the iPod Touch, it has a phone (duh..), it has bluetooth, a digital camera and the battery lasts slightly longer. The price difference between an 8GB iPhone and an 8GB iPod Touch is also just $100. Now the downside is that the iPhone needs to be unlocked to work in Kuwait. I figured if I couldn’t figure out how to unlock it I will just end up with an iPod which can browse the web and take pictures which really isn’t that bad. You can check the side by side comparison on the features by following this [Link]

i vote for iphone.. wait 3-4 months until they release the international version ;)!

  2. 2. garga | September 6th, 2007 at 2:27 pm

the bluetooth in the iphone is only to be used for the wireless headset not to send and receive files or pics. for the unlocking , they will release a software soon for easy unlocking.

I thought the iPhone doesn’t work at all until its activated, not even as an iPod.

  5. 5. Mark | September 6th, 2007 at 3:10 pm

Nope, you can activate the iphone with this simple software

I vote for the Ipod Touch, it’s an Ipod with more features, the Iphone is a phone with less features!

  7. 7. Mark | September 6th, 2007 at 3:47 pm

But the iPhone has all the features of the iPod Touch and more..

    Does the iPhone have wifi?

I dunno. I’d go for the iPod Touch, it’s smaller, it’s got wifi and didn’t Nat just get a new phone? lol.

  9. 9. Mark | September 6th, 2007 at 3:59 pm

yes iphone has wifi, it also has bluetooth, a digital camera and extra battery life which the ipod touch doesn’t have.

That’s too much of a hassle. If you want an iPhone why not just wait till it comes out this part of the world. It’s not that great a phone in the first place. All what was cool about it is now in the iPod Touch.

  11. 11. Mark | September 6th, 2007 at 4:18 pm

muscati why wait a few months until the ipod gets released here (if it gets released here) and then pay a huge amount of money for it when i could get it now and cheaper from the states?

ipod touch and iphone are basically same price so why not pay just a bit more and get the iphone u know?

  12. 12. BoJwais | September 6th, 2007 at 4:21 pm

    IPOD TOUCH…

Reason: the iphone is TOO HUGE for a phone! wala u look like a jackass holding something that big against your ears!!

  13. 13. Imad | September 6th, 2007 at 5:52 pm

i find myself in the same predicament with the price drop of the iphone. having said that, it looks like a 16gb model may be coming at apple expo (see link below) though that model will probably fill the now vacant $599 price gap.

Actually , there’s one thing that the iphone can’t do that the touch can do , which is that u can use the touch as a flash drive for storage while u can’t use the iphone for that

  15. 15. kwt23 | September 6th, 2007 at 6:45 pm

i’d go with the touch…i was actually waiting for the sony ericsson w960, but now im confused :S

Mark, i would get the ipod touch, it’s new, it’s offical (no unlocking required) and its thinner, and then by the time they find a way to unlock the iphone or even release it anywhere other than the US, you can easily sell your still-not-in-kuwait ipod and buy the iphone .. the only reason they droped the price of the iphone is because they want to sell it like crazy before their contract with At&t ends .. and hence the ipod touch they want to sell as much as they can of it for all the international customers who want to experience some of the iphone and in 3 months .. they will release the new unlocked iphone .. if companies dont bid too high for them .. vodafone wants to do the same to it in europe as what At&t are doing in the us .. and if they pay enough .. steve job wouldnt mind giving them exclusivity in certain countries and have his ipod touch selling anyway all over the world.. as the ipod touch does everything the iphone does.. except for being a phone .. i seriously think that you should get the ipod touch .. for you and nat .. and when apple are finished releasing their new OS and new laptops,, (laptops are coming out after the shopping season ..) they will then release a new phone product .. :) after the iphone has died out .. that is .. so .. why get an iphone now that doent work,, carry around all that extra weight (from the phone part of it) when you can get one in a few months that actually works?! and have the latest cool ipod :)
    wow .. eyeedee et3ebat ..
    anyway .. etroo7 ow terja3 bel salama ..

    Holla, You are really weird!

  23. 23. pcmedics911 | September 9th, 2007 at 2:27 am

The big difference is the battery life, no mail application on the touch (for email) and less apps overall.

The new unlocks posted are going to give user the opportunity to use their iphones with diff carriers with GSM. Sim card exchange ;)

  24. 24. Mark | September 9th, 2007 at 9:30 am

anas: the ipod touch doesn’t have a phone so thats why i would rather pay 100$ extra and get a phone built into my ipod and a digital camera.

also the ipod touch wouldn’t be useful for me since i like carrying all my music with me and my 80GB ipod barely cuts it. the 160gb classic is more like what i need :)

  27. 27. mushroom | September 9th, 2007 at 2:14 pm

buy an mp3 player, palm top, camera, mobile phone then a back pack. put em all inside.. problem solved.

  28. 28. Lomer | September 10th, 2007 at 9:20 am

The ipod touch don’t have external speakers like the iphone and not camera. So if you want to show friends and family a movie or song they won’t be able to hear it unless you carry some small speakers with you all the time.

  29. 29. spike23 | September 10th, 2007 at 1:02 pm

k plan B, get rich, buy both, get drinks, have a party, invite the hunnies. makes sense to me. im not sure why everyone has to complain about which one. if you already have and iPod, get the phone, if not get the iPod, or if your really that confused about it set aside 1000$ and get both plus extras, and fun shit.

I have the same debate! So do I want 16gb or a camera? Stinkin’ Apple. There will no doubt be accessories glory but which is more feasible?

    1. A camera add on or 2. the ability to add more storage capacity.

Plus if I want I can eventually use it as a phone. But the next iPhone will make this obsolete where as the next Touch I can probably skip and go for gen 3.

Give me a 16gb iPhone for 499 that I don’t have to activate and we have a deal!

I would buy a ipod touch because its slighter and also you get more memory and the apps dont count cause you can edit them so IPOD TOUCH RULES

I think that apple should stick to ipod and keep away from phones. Phones just are not apple’s style and I think that they should just put all of their efforts into developing new ipod products like the itouch. They should perfect the interface and keep with that.

GEE I have a question? If I can download Itunes to my ipod, that’s great, because if my phone is shut off when i go away, i can’t exchange the music.right? Or I can’t transfer my stuff back n forth.

Well the bill for my internet service on my iphone that I used in Greece was a big scare. I was freaking out when i saw the bill. I said next time I’ll shut the phone service off or the internet. But will I be able to still download the music back n forth or take out my pictures that I take?

Any advice. If I get the Ipod touch, it will be cheaper for me. I don’t need a fancy phone, I’m not in that kind of buisness and I hate looking at my emails through the screen. I like the computer for looking for emails. please give me some advice.

I vote for iPod Touch. When you jailbreak the iPod Touch, it’s way way way better than the iPhone. Who cares about the camera… and there’s also an installer application for Touch that allows you to use a phone without SIM card but with Wi-Fi using a seperate microphone. And.. the iPhone is like any other phone.. i rather carry two things than waste cash on iPhone!
