I was taught this in aviation class. Airline seats are designed to withstand vertical force. But in most accidents, horizontal force is what they are mostly subjected to (Planes don’t fall straight out of the sky usually). The seats end up ripping out of the floor and piling up at the front of the plane. I’m glad to see someone came up with the numbers.

Until the pilot over-corrects on landing & scrapes the tail end on the ground…that’s something else.

My father has been saying this for years! The safest place to sit on an airoplane is right at the back row in the middle seat. If ever there were survivors of an airplane crash, they usually are in those seats. Imagine, first class are the most dangerous..isn’t that ironic!! Your paying so much more to put your life at more risk.

This is completely based on statistics of all plane crashes. Factor in the different reasons and it becomes irrelevant.
