Still same shit and same lousy service. My packages stayed 1 full week in-box 2 weeks ago and some other packages are still in in-box 3 days ago. Today they shipped only one package of 0.05LB which was supposed to come with the other packages. Now i have to pay 3KD for the 0.05LB when it would have been free if they shipped all my packages at once.

Ekh, I almost stopped dealing with Aramex now. Their shipping costs are too high, and my shipments always stay in the U.S for more than a week! They say that they ship as soon as possible, but why is it that "asap" for them never seems to be Iess than a week.

I also canceled all my subscriptions because Aramex increased their shipping prices so much that a single magazine costs me KD 8! Imagine!

They probably arrived in your mailbox way before they posted that it did. They do that a lot. Your best bet is to track the package from where you purchased it and see when it was truly delivered to your mailbox.

I know what you mean now. It's not that Amazon is charging you tax. The store you bought from is charging you tax. This is how they do the tax over here in the US. The store you bought from has to have a physical store in New York for you to get charged tax because your item is being shipped to New York.
Here are some examples:
1. You buy from Amazon.com and have your item shipped to New York. You won't get charged tax because Amazon does not have a physical store in New York.
2, You buy from Apple and have your item shipped to New York. You will get charged tax because Apple has a physical store in New York.
3. You buy from my store on Amazon. You won't get charged tax if you have your item shipped to New York because I am in Connecticut.
4. You buy from a store on Amazon that has a physical store in Chicago. You have your item shipped to Chicago. You have to pay tax. If you had that same item shipped to New York instead, you would not have to pay tax.
----------------
Now here is where it gets very confusing. Not all online stores follow the examples above. Online stores have to pay taxes to their State government, but only when they sell to people in the same state that they are in. So I only have to give my State government the taxes from the people who bought from me who live in Connecticut, because I am in Connecticut. Stores do one of two things. Either they charge the customer tax, or they don't charge the customer tax and pay their taxes to the government out of their own pocket. I give the tax out of my own pocket. I do not charge the customer. Whenever you buy something on Amazon, check the store's location. You can always email the store and say "Are you located in New York?" If they say yes, you may be charged tax if you have your item shipped to New York. If they say no, you won't get charged tax. Did you follow all this, or did I confuse you more?

Jean,
Tax is being charged by Amazon for shipments into NY.
Here is an article on the law : at Business week .http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/apr2009/tc20090426_510375.htm
Every single order has been charged Tax and here is the breakdown from Amazon on my last order which was a Hard Disk

Item(s) Subtotal: $153.99
Shipping & Handling: $0.00 ( Amazon Prime )
 -----
Total Before Tax: $153.99
Sales tax: $12.90
 -----
Total for this Shipment: $166.89

I was also charged tax by Apple Store for an IPod shipped to Aramex in NY. Trya nd add anything to your cart with the NY address and see the sales tax ring into the total.
If your store is escaping it, NY state may chase you later !

I just called the Amazon line for merchants and asked to make sure about the sales tax. You are not charged 7% sales tax if you have your items shipped to New York. Hope this helps.

AR- Are you sure that you are being charged tax? I am in the US and am an Amazon jewelry merchant. I get a lot of customers in the Middle East who buy from my store on Amazon and have the items shipped to Aramex. I have never seen them being charged a tax. I can ask Amazon and get back to you if you'd like.

So small stuff like magz and CDs get shipped on Wataniya airplanes that's already flying out, hence the next day shipping. The bigger stuff take longer.
