Old hi-res color photograph of London

I found this high resolution picture of London via Digg and it was taken sometime around the 1930s. I really love it. Notice how everyone is wearing the same black and beigh colors and how all the cars are also similar in colors. [Link]

it looks like you’re looking down Shaftesbury Avenue from Picadilly Circus. I’d say it hasn’t changed much apart from the cars, fashion and blatant cigarette advertising!

Not to mention a palpable absence of people of colour!

1949-1950…those were the heady days of our youth; of an unbridled innocence when yes, please! and cheers, actually meant something, when they didn’t use to punctuate every third sentence with a bugger this, or a bugger that.
(thankfully, the popularity of the f word was
    still in its infancy).
I just can’t take my eyes off this vintage picture you have here; love the smell of it to bits.
Oh bring back ,bring back, oh bring back my classy baby to me, to me!

Around a year ago I found a post on a forum with high-res WW1 photos, in colour.
But for now, this is all I could find.
