When I live in Kuwait, I worked with many Kuwaitis who struggled to have a healthy lifestyle. They wanted to go to the gym (but it was difficult, with family commitments), eat well (but couldn’t , with family commitments), eat at the right time (but couldn’t, because of family commitments), stop smoking sheesha (but couldn’t, because that formed the basis of their social life with their peers), go for a jog after work (yeah, when it’s 50 degrees centigrade outside), find a gym (which costs an arm and a leg, or are cheap and crappy – not a lot of choice).

I actually think this could work out well to show the genuine difficulties the Kuwaitis’ (and in general, Gulf Arabs’) way of life makes it difficult to follow the norms of healthy living.

Let’s just hope they don’t start delving into the rampant use of illegal steroids amongs the local youth who go to the various gyms around Kuwait…!

I know how this will end up. Interviews in the crappiest parts of Kuwait showing the most backwards scenes and then present it to the world as Kuwait. Or the alternative would be to show all the flashy places in Kuwait, people dragging their feet in diamonds, driving super cars and laughing around as if it’s still 2007.

I say to Kuwaiti’s don’t participate unless you are sure your country gets represented fairly.

The BBC is ought to ask the children of Gaza for their opinion of “Healthy Life Style” – being the only British broadcaster to refuse to show it and all…

and yes a trip to the malls would definitely help show our consumerist culture at its best…….there is healthy living for you!
