Dabke World Record

4,475 Lebanese participated in breaking the Guinness world record for the longest Dabke line. They weren’t as synchronized as the 1,500 Filipino prisoners dancing to Thriller but they looked like they had a lot of fun. Ironically, this record was broken in Montreal and not in Lebanon. [YouTube]

What makes it ironic? Maybe you should say “Interestingly” because ironic is not used in the right context.

Its ironic because that record was broken outside of Lebanon by Lebanese people, and it also could be ironic because lots of Lebanese people have a Canadian citizenship or live there.

u know with the right food i think this could be done…the only hard thing would be is to synchronize 5000 farts for it to count

i guess if you do anything unique then you’re qualified for a world record

not all records are published in the book

Toni, You make it sound like they went through no trouble to set up this event… given that its harder in kuwait, , i’m sure that having the Guinness people there made it a lot easier to set it up.

Should be ironic, not in this case.. wouldn’t be shocked if the next Dabke record is broken in Rio or Sao Paolo.

lol i was thinking the same thing since there are more Lebanese in Brazil then there are Lebanese in Lebanon.

Just go down to Gemmayze on friday or Saturday and play Dabke song … the people in the streets ( not in the pubs) will set a new record ..
