Danish Brands to Boycott

Having trouble knowing which Danish brands to boycott? I don’t know why I didn’t realize this earlier but Bang & Olufsen is Danish.. I wonder if their store in Fanar is still open? Anyway I did a bit of research to see if there were other brands I liked that were Danish and I found out that my favorite brand of gum, Stimoral is Danish. I need to check and see if Sultan Center still carry them but I am guessing they aren’t. Here is a nice list of Danish products I found, I don’t know if all of these are available in Kuwait:

Marzouq thats a load of crap. KDD is Kuwait Danish Dairy Company and many of the managers are danish- I know this because they live in my building hahahahaha- shame it hasnt really been taken off the shelves- Kuwait has very little independent manufacturing.

Are you guys just joking or are you serious?
I seriously can’t tell.
Anyway, here’s a quote from the autobiography of Margrethe II of Denmark, published in 2005:
“We are being challenged by Islam these years - globally as well as locally. It is a challenge we have to take seriously. We have let this issue float about for too long because we are tolerant and lazy.
“We have to show our opposition to Islam and we have to, at times, run the risk of having unflattering labels placed on us because there are some things for which we should display no tolerance.”
“And when we are tolerant, we must know whether it is because of convenience or conviction.”

16. ananyah | February 8th, 2006 at 9:28 pm

17. Mark | February 8th, 2006 at 10:02 pm
I love my Jamo speakers. They are the fucking best.
Anyway good thing I got a Belgian Shepherd and not a Great Dane hehe
18. jambino | February 8th, 2006 at 10:23 pm
Jamo is pretty good. Their products are not at the same level as B&O. They are closer to Bose. I used them in the past and they are pretty good for the money.
19. shadyq80 | February 8th, 2006 at 10:29 pm
Danish Pastries.
20. Marzouq | February 8th, 2006 at 11:37 pm
where can you buy jamo speakers from in Q8?
and what recievers do you guys recommend?
(This is waaayyy off subject! lol)
21. Mark | February 8th, 2006 at 11:59 pm
urgh nothing is as crap as Bose. Jamo’s are way better. Unlike Bose Jamos do have excellent highs and amazing lows.
I got my 870x Jamos from Dawaliah 4 years ago when they had them. They dont have them anymore. You can see pics of my jamo if you search my blog for the word jamo.
receivers I would go for Denon or Marantz. If you got like a thousand KD to spend i would go for Sunfire. But for normal use you can get some pretty decent denons for an affordable price.
22. Marzouq | February 9th, 2006 at 1:15 am
I saw the sunfire! I still have the link.. but its a little too much for just a normal setup.. i got a nice plasma and I just want two front speakers with a center speaker for now..
I had a denon before and it did a great job!
What do you think of the R 909 from Jamos?
23. snookie | February 9th, 2006 at 2:38 am
whenever theres a boycott i dont agree with, i go out and PURPOSELY buy/do whatever is being boycotted.. i cant believe this issue is getting bigger and bigger..

Marzouk if you want speakers and dont have room for them and you dont want to pay a lot then pass by Dewaliah in Salmiya, (the new branch opposite Marina Mall area near eastpak) and check out the YSP-1000

If you want a great deal on speakers, check out the Paradigm Studio Monitor series. They cost half as as much as they do in the States! You can find them at the Panasonic showroom in Salmiya and at Virgin.
http://www.paradigm.com/
31. Mark | February 9th, 2006 at 11:58 am
Yeah Paradigm are pretty good. I have the CC-370 center speaker and want to get the ADP-170 surround speakers. They do sell for a really good deal here in Kuwait.
While you are there make sure you check out the Definitive Technology SuperCube… another thing i really want.
32. jambino | February 9th, 2006 at 12:08 pm
Yes, if you want super-duper bass, the Def Tech powered sub is the ticket, especially for 5.1 movies. Their center speakers also have powered subs and all of them sell for a great price here. I’m using both right now, and believe me they are worth every fils.
33. Mark | February 9th, 2006 at 12:11 pm
you got the supercube? thats fucking cool, which one do you have and whats your receiver?
34. jambino | February 9th, 2006 at 12:27 pm
From Def Tech, I have the 15TL+ powered sub and CLR 2500 powered center. Right now I’m using Denon 3805 receiver in a bi-amped configuration.
35. Mark | February 9th, 2006 at 12:29 pm
dude thats the same reciever i am trying to convince Nat we need! lol
36. jambino | February 9th, 2006 at 12:48 pm
The 3805 is worth every fils. Many people don’t realize that this little monster has 7, count them 7, independent mono amps running at 120 Watts RMS each! If you bi-amp the mains, you will get 240 RMS from the front LR. I had people mesmerized listening to this beast.
If you do get it, your neighbors might have issues with you, so you better invite them for a movie every now and then :)
37. Mark | February 9th, 2006 at 1:05 pm
my apartment has extremely solid walls. wifi will barely penetrate from one side of the wall to the other even :)
dude the amp is amazing, been dreaming of it for a while. My current dolby digital receiver is a Kenwood and is like 8 years old. I have a newer Nakamichi RE 10 but its a stereo receiver. I use it with my Nakamichi cd player and only for listening to cds.
I need to upgrade my Kenwood like ASAP. Maybe once I get my bonus..
38. Marzouq | February 9th, 2006 at 1:49 pm
I think I may get the Denon 3805! Im buying all these items to setup my basement as a theatre room with a cool plasma tv.. I cant get a projector cuz I dont want too much work done to the room. so a plasma would suffice! I will go to panasonic in salmiya to check out the spears and the cube. Also Im going to go checkout the Denon. Where can I go to check out the Denon reciever?
39. Marzouq | February 9th, 2006 at 1:52 pm
Its a big room.. so what front speakers to do you guys recommend from paradigm? I will check out the def-tech sub as well.
40. jambino | February 9th, 2006 at 2:15 pm
The only thing with the 3805 is that you need good speakers to truly appreciate it. I’ve heard it with crappy speakers. It was a crime. The poor showroom manager could not understand why the 3805 kept on clipping.
Hello! The thing has a protection circuit, it goes off if the speakers are not the right match for your own protection.
Also, if the speakers are capable, but not good sonically, it will play, but you won’t get the full benefit of this truly amazing box.
That’s why, before you buy the 3805, make sure you have the right speakers. Also, make sure to use good speaker cables like “monster” to hook them up.
41. jambino | February 9th, 2006 at 2:28 pm
Marzouq
The Paradigm Reference studio 100 are an excellent match for the 3805 front channel, especially if you bi-amp them. This is what I’m using right now.
42. jambino | February 9th, 2006 at 2:31 pm
Denon is available at Panasonic showroom in Salmiya.
43. Marzouq | February 9th, 2006 at 2:42 pm
any recommendations for front speakers in a big room?
44. jambino | February 9th, 2006 at 2:56 pm
The Paradigm Reference studio 100, if you can still find them. Panasonic imported only 10 pairs last year.
45. Marzouq | February 9th, 2006 at 3:16 pm
ok I will check it out! and should i also get the same center speaker as your self and the def tech sub? I am not sure exactly how to set them up to be bi-amp.. is it simple?
46. jambino | February 9th, 2006 at 3:38 pm
I’m happy with my setup. If you like movies, you will need a sub and a center. The Def Techs are excellent for that.
And no, bi-amping the 3805 is not simple. For one, you need speakers that CAN be bi-amped. Most speakers can’t. The studio 100 can (they have two pairs of inputs). Then follow the steps below:
http://www.audioholics.com/productreviews/avhardware/Denon-AVR3805_review04.php
47. Marzouq | February 9th, 2006 at 4:27 pm
thanks Jambino for the instructions! If I can get those speakers then I will go ahead and follow the setup! sweet! I do watch a lot of movies!
