Kuwait Sky Tours

Kuwait Sky Tours

Susan, a regular reader of the site recently went on a sky tour of Kuwait and this is what she had to say about it:

A recent start-up called Kuwait Sky Tours is now operating in Kuwait and taking passengers on 15-minute helicopter rides at a cost of KD25 each. The 15-minute flight takes off from the helipad behind the Sultan Centre restaurant on the Gulf Road, travels up to Green Island and then back down to the Amir’s Palace in Salwa, before returning to land. It is a great way too see Kuwait from a different perspective. The helicopter is a MD 500-E and seats 3 adults. There is space for a child or a very skinny person between the pilot and front passenger. If you want to go, give Steve a call on 705 6666. They also fly from Khiran and Failaka on occasion. Cameras are allowed.

You can also go on a larger helicopter, for an hour-long flight for the princely sum of USD1,500. Or, try the executive jet, which is ready to fly you and 13 of your friends to any destination in the world! Don’t know that price; I was too afraid to ask!

P.S. Don’t talk into the headset during the flight. The pilot told me off!

why does the hour long flight cost 300KD when 15 mins is 25KD? can’t you just pay a 100KD for 60 minutes or go on it 4 times?

    holla,

I think that there are two different helicopters; the large one (500kd/hr) is probably meant to travel to places instead of taking tours.

Mark, why do you edit peoples opinions? My last post seems to have dissappeared… please reply as I would be interested to know…. I only said that I think the helicopter is a waste of money! how sad that you feel you must censor your blog- kinda defeats the object of blogging dont you think?

tj, I just reset your karma to 0 and recovered your post.

And for the record I do censor some comments because some people are dickheads. It doesn’t defeat the object of blogging because the comments usually are either racist or personal attacks and thats not the purpose of blogging.

The USD1,500 flight is in a 6-seater (5 passenger) Dauphin SA-365N1 which is obviously larger and has more comfortable seating etc. They’ll apparently fly you over a greater area, avoiding military installations and palaces etc. I am planning to go on a photo tour of Kuwait in this one, with a couple of friends. And hey, what’s KD25 to do something different. If you live in London that’s about half an hour out on a Friday night!

ah so its $1500 per flight not per person right?

  21. 21. KtheKuwaiti | March 1st, 2006 at 8:26 am

    1500$ / 6 = 250$
    250$ / ~3.42 = 87KD
    87KD / 4 =

21KD (per person, per 15 minute)

Make sense .. you get 15% off if you get an hour.

    k= fatheeee

  23. 23. holla | March 1st, 2006 at 4:07 pm

so if you can get 6 ppl you can take the hour long trip for 21 KD? holy shit i think we might do this

  24. 24. Susan | March 3rd, 2006 at 2:07 pm

Holla: No, no, not KD21 each for 1 hour. Whether the helicopter has one passenger, or 6, the flight is USD1,500. So, if you have maximum capacity i.e. 6 passengers, it’s about KD75 per person for the hour, depending on the exchange rate used. This helicopter is used only for longer flights, although some people got lucky yesterday and managed to have a 15-minute flip in it, as the MD500 was down at Khiran…

oh ok, seems i was getting a bit carried away there heh.
