Sharq Film

Sharq Film

I’ve been wanting to watch the movie Sharq ever since I first saw the trailer back in February and it seems the movie is finally getting released. The new website is up and running at www.sharqfilm.com and you can now book tickets to the early screenings of the movie for November 18 and 19th. If you don’t know what the movie is about then check out the trailer on their website. I just booked two tickets for the 18th. [Link]

update: According to reader comments it seems the movie was already released a few months back and is available on DVD.

I’ve seen the movie a few months back and have it on dvd, what i noticed immediately that its a huge leap from the production values we are used to here in kuwait, very well done and professionaly made, hope you all like it like i did :)

  6. Mark says:

How the hell is this the movie premier if people have already watched it and even have the DVD version of it??

  7. nibaq says:

    We threatened the director.

At least that’s one film that’ll be showed without any snip snipping, every movie in cinescape now is butchered randomly.

In The Condemned, they cut the part where the English guy said he got buttfucked in prison, and whenever there was awesome head shooting or stabbing.

  9. Is the film subtitled in anglais?

  10. I want to see this film if you promise me there are no man eating sharks!

  11. Holla says:

Is it better than Bas Ya Ba7ar?

  12. Dear All,

The film has not yet been released. Any DVD copies available were distributed by the filmmakers as promotional material – and may have been copied/pirated. In official capacity, the film has not yet been released or screened in Kuwait (except for one preview screening to Cinemagic’s weekly screening audiences).

    Thanks,

hay mark…since u r talking about kuwaiti made movies…there is something u should check out and would be intresting to post about…there is a american made movie i just saw called (i’m reed fish) and whats intresting is that its co-written and produced by bader al-wazzan……and its a kuwaiti name no less..so it will be cool from u to investigate about it and tell us about this kuwaiti talent…its a COOL movie by the way.

  17. pink says:

oh..and he has a cameo voice over in the movie..as a caller on the radio..intresting!

wat is this movie!! is it arabic??!! i really wnt to know!!! ;p

  19. Boss says:

I helped a little with the movie and I’d like to ask you all to go and show some support for the cast and crew! Everyone worked really hard on putting together a short (roughly 30 minute), entertaining movie for people to enjoy and to show that with the right kind of effort and support something half decent can be made.

  20. The least Cinescape can do is to screen ”Sharq – the film” at the Sharqia cinema, if not at the Avenues.

  21. Yazan Al Ghazzawi says:

Cinescape are not the ones who are screening the film – they are just sponsors. We asked for Al Sha’ab Cinema specifically because it is the only standalone cinema (which is not part of a mall), as it doesn’t make sense to host premieres/festivals at malls.

  22. EXzombie says:

    the film is good….

won’t spoil it, but the Sha’ab cinema is not good….!!!

  23. Q8 Knights says:

It’s a shame they had to pull down Salmieh cinema. Shaab cinema is no patch on Salmiya. Imagine what ideal venue Salmiya cinema would have made for regional and international movie fests !

  24. nadia karam says:

want reserve seat to see the film shorouk

  25. Is there a Q & A session planned for after the screening when members of the public can interface with the cast and crew of Sharq- The Film ?

  26. Faris says:

The producer, aziz, is a very well read, intellectual guy who studied in the u.s. He’s nothing short of a pro in what he does. Considering his age, the movie is ground breakin compared to the dross that is aired here.

  27. Nouriya says:

I really wanna see the movie but the tickets all seem to be booked. Will the movie be screened later of sold on DVD? If so, does anyone know when?

  28. [...] from Jukebox Society emailed me to tell me that the short film SHARQ is now available to watch online via Vimeo. I never got the chance to watch it so it’s pretty [...]
