Street Lamp Numbers

Not sure if many people have noticed this but street lamps have unique numbers on them. I remember reading once that these numbers are used to identify the location in case of emergency like say you get into an accident and you call for help, you could read them the number on the lamp post and they would know exactly where you are. I wonder if that applies in Kuwait.

We use these numbers to know how far are our friends in the other car behind us!! so if the difference in the numbers is 10, then they are 10 lamps away..

  6. Mark says:

Wow thats just too much math to figure out how far behind your friends are.

    lamp 1:- 7/8–4 lamp 2:- 8/8–4 lamp 3:- 9/8–4
lamp 4:- 1/9–4 lol i dnt focus, after a while i realize im doing it and its annyoing (how come I failed math twice :’( )

If that works in Kuwait, then that’s great, because I have a hard time letting people know where I am exactly!

  17. TATA says:

Highways have the kilometer small green boards that mark how far you are from Kuwait City at any one point. Every half kilometer is marked.

Ba3ad hal lamp marking shmalah? :)

    yeah i have noticed this…

Thanks Mark, good bit of information.

I had American friends who just moved to Kuwait. We were going to meet at the Hilton and they got lost somewhere on Fahaheel Expressway. I called Dude and he said “we’re at lamp post # 432″ (or whatever). It totally confused the heck out of me for about 10 minutes until I figured out what he was saying. On a good day, Kuwait makes no sense.
