Beautiful building that is most of the time empty and devoid of any real political activity other then constant threats to grill over the silliest actions.

I hope a good government finally steps in after the several years of fiascos happened. But then again those were elected officials. Kuwait gets the government it deserves.

  23. 23. Q80-ChillGirl | December 17th, 2008 at 10:47 pm

hope you bare with me :D as much as u have the right to comment i do too :D

OK, how could a simple piece of information be so controversial ?

lighten up people, its a small post about who designed our National Assembly, every one has the right to their opinion and to rant as long as they respect the other :)

so who said its an old fact for them its still new to the post editor and me too i knew it recently! nothing wrong with knowledge :D

as for those who rant about who are in the National Assembly or who are in Kuwait in their eyes, don’t its not worth it :} the post is far simpler than this

its a post about who built a thing :) that is it… we don’t have to make it complex :D blogging is not!

  24. 24. 7 | December 17th, 2008 at 10:56 pm

that was the last thing far3on had learned before his terrible passing

  25. 25. Realist | December 17th, 2008 at 11:37 pm

Yup and he did a bad job at it. Apparently, Utzon didn’t get to see the Sydney Opera House for 50 years because he was kicked out for cost overruns of more than 1000%. Guess where he headed next ?

  26. 26. Baziz | December 17th, 2008 at 11:42 pm

I can’t believe Mark is still being harassed about his posts!

People get this, IT IS HIS OWN BLOG!!! He has the right to publish whatever he feels like.

Keep up the good work mark! You really set up an example for a great blog about Kuwait.

We have many buildings built by internationally known firms such as Chamber of Commerce, Alhamra Tower (under construction), and Hilton Resort were designed by SOM (Designers of the Sears Tower, Burj Dubai, Hancock Center, and many other).

I.M. Pei, designer of the Pyramide du Louvre in Paris, also designed the residential towers next to Safir Hotel in Bnied Elqar back in the 70s.

  32. 32. Mark | December 18th, 2008 at 10:34 am

    which residential towers? Masaref?

  33. 33. BoBader | December 18th, 2008 at 11:33 am

    Those http://www.panoramio.com/photo/55816

I was told this by three British architects from HOK who I met in Safir International few years back. I asked the owner of the firm I worked for and he confirmed it.

  34. 34. Mark | December 18th, 2008 at 11:37 am

yup those are the masaref buildings. they used to be the most expensive apartments in kuwait.

  35. 35. 7 | December 18th, 2008 at 2:22 pm

they must have been constructed back in the 80s cuz they look ugly good job with the blog mark keep it up
