The Scientific Center

From all the cool strange touristic places in Kuwait like the Zoo, Entertainment City, Ice Skating Rink, Green Island etc.. my favorite is definitely The Scientific Center. Its such a beautiful and relaxing place. I passed by there today, it was only my second (or third) time so the large shark aquariums still mesmerizes me when I see it. I sat on one of the benches watching the sharks and fish swim and awhile later four scuba divers appeared and started cleaning the tank. It was fun to watch and the aquarium is really gigantic. If you haven’t been there yet you need to. The entrance fee is KD3 but its not only for the aquarium, there is another section you pass through first which has like bats, lizards, snakes, crocodiles etc.. When you visit the place you won’t believe you are in Kuwait.

I like the science-y games place, the one where you can put yourself in a bubble. I might go there within the next week with a friend who hasn’t seen it. I bet he’ll like the iMax cinema.

It would’ve been nice if you have taken some pictures of the divers :) . I went there twice since it was opened but never got the chance to see the divers.
Here in Birmingham we have the Sea Life which is nice.. but not as good or as big or as varied as the one in Kuwait :)

I like it alot, been there many times, with family, friends and couple of trips when I used to be in high school. And I never get bored of it, every time it feels like whole new experience.
I totally agree with you on the part where you feel not in Kuwait once you are in. The place too good to exist in Kuwait =D
moayad: I’ve been to Sea-Life in Spain, its cool but as you said not big as The Scientific Center, and it does not have Wild Life section… Only Fish =D

The scientific museum is one of the few nice places in Kuwait. We need a good museum though. Dar AlAthar was great, but don’t know when that is coming back.

I agree, an excellent place in Kuwait. I’m all for encouraging Kuwait in investing in museums and other cultural places.
Poor Jelly fish, they were in a huge tank of water - now they have been moved to something much smaller.

It’s a cool place, and my children love it. We go there quiet regularly.
moayad, if you want to see the divers, you have to go at a specific time which is posted on the site.

Proud to say my sister was part of the original team that set up the scientific center’s shark tanks, and yes she was one of the regular divers too

We just love The Scientific Centre, especially the aquarium… a lot of intelligent questions pop up from my children, its fun and educational … we have to go through our books on ocean life before and after visiting the aquarium and then we want to go back for more….. We can spend a whole day at The Scientific Centre and even go the movies at the IMAX… It is the BEST place in Kuwait.

The Scientific Centre is pretty impressive. However, when my family and I were pretty dismayed by one small cage housing a mountain cat. The poor thing was repeatedly pacing back and forth, a sign that it has gone mad which happens when animals that are used to running several miles each day are locked away in small cages. All for our own amusement. This spoilt the whole visit for me as this is very cruel.

For me as a Kuwaiti, it’s one of the best places to go to in Kuwait. The fossils they have in the hallway are mind-blowingly awesome, for a start, and the individual fish section of the aquarium is pretty cool.
