Shocker. A subject about a neighboring gulf country being recognized for something good turning into a bitchfest about Kuwait.

Yes! The collective peoples here suck donkey balls, can we move past the issue?

And I guess I need to get out more. All I've seen in Bahrain are prostitutes and taxi drivers trying to bum 20KD out of me for a 10 minute cab ride from the airport.

Spartan: I totally agree that in my country racism is also a problem. Unfortunately, the difference is that in Kuwait it is "generally" tolerated.
A Kuwaiti woman pushing in front of a Filipina girl in the Sultan Centre is not told by anyone - especially the staff - that she is wrong. I told one woman this a few weeks ago and her answer was predictable: "I'm Kuwaiti!"
I informed her that she was also a f--king stupid bitch as well.

Spartan for the sake of your religion, don't say Kuwait gives, Kuwait feeds..

Spartan and all who blow the same horn: God gives, God feeds, God provide safe heavens (and its desert actually) not you, not Kuwait not the oil and not the rulers

And wait a minute.. Do you think that you give money away or donate them to us with nothing instead ? then what the heck one of us is doing 9 or 10 hours a day ? convalescent ?

How about the civilized country built ? -our efforts n earth's money- and moving you from tents and clay blocks to enlightening houses? from mounts to cars ? can't we share a little bit of that WHIIIILE Maintaining your country's critical services stability, that non of your people is ready to do because of pride or lack of knowledge (and the headache of gaining it) ? (do i have to remind who used to work in Kuwait army before 1990 ?) was Arabs, now US.

You donated for 101 country to build their infrastructure ? hmm well that is so generous, but what about your country's infrastructure ?

I still can smell shit from Salwa, where the unresolved shit hole issue located in Mishref..(calling experts from outside to solve the mystery of shit)

Another thing i can see you speak English very England.. do you dare to send your children to a government schools anymore ? or your prefer one of those fancy English/American/french schools ? so what in the sake of god the infrastructure you have ? health care ? for free ? huh, dude not anymore, not after 1990, this free health care quality might be good for animals, not for humans, not to mention old rusty dirty abandoned health care centers and kiosks with ignorant doctors.
Do you use government or private insurance ? Health care does not count..not anymore..

Roads ? those regularly paved roads are ones where Kuwaiti lives, how about considering Midan Hawally as it is the case of Qortoba ? would that happen ? nop, so Transportation Does not count.

Cooperatives shopping centers ? same case as above, those where expats live is not the same maintained as where Kuwaiti lives.., if you think the cooperative where do you live is the same one we go to, where its hardly to find a non beaten (literally) vegetables every Friday if it existed, then you are wrong too.., cooperatives does not count.. TSC ? oh may be you should consider doubling my salary or a side talk with Mr. Sultan for that ( am speaking of the people with less salary )..

Weather and public places..Accessible only for 2 or less months a year, with not considering taking an annual leave till summer, that leaves you with partially enjoyable 8 weekends thanks for natural built in divine sauna.. those Yachts are not affordable for me , so thank you again am not interested, with the money of Kuwait, if i was Kuwaiti i would bring Disney here (to my people) rather than sending them outside collecting various diseases .., so nop, public places no good, major rule is the weather.. sea is great for hometowns with no great sea, like mine

Safe ? every place in the world have safe places, how about you go have a nice walk in Jahra at night? alone or with your wife and kids ? not to mention the not yet mature police mean growing recently chewing gum and smoking cigarettes and talking on phone all the time.. with not US Military bases here ( who is paid ) your country is vulnerable, if -Iran this time- attacked and there is not US (previously Saddam), we would be all beating our selves on Ashora..

Those Golden days of Kuwait you are talking about and try to prove the point (which is bite the hand who helped you that you are looking from your angle while we look from the same angel + 180) has passed away. those was in 70's and 80's I'll give you my dad's number to call him and remind him with them, i didn't live those golden days so pardon me of whining, + his response might be that Oh, i know your dad, i taught him at school, please say hello to him..that of course is enough to keep you in silence.

Speaking about Canada, Canada and the US has immigrants too, yes there is some kind of racism there, but guess what ? they served for those countries and they got a citizenship ! the US passport the only thing that Kuwaiti government respects (Baba Bush). equal rights, equal services.

A promising country such as Canada which is BTW one of the least affected by the financial crisis, and which is fertilized with resources and UTILIZE it EFFICIENTLY, and HAS the brain power of creative humans, would be better for me, if i have the chance of immigrating there and have no more slavery i would be grateful..and yes, slavery is worse than racism, if Canada has one, Kuwait has BOTH.

so waking up every morning, riding your Carerra, check in at work at 9:45 while you are yawning, then slip to have breakfast in Za'atar wo Zeet and never get back till its 12:40 and then spend another half hour whining and shouting at expats, then go have lunch in Lenôtre, that is your heaven you are talking about that no expats never and will never taste. (some time don't want to , because its an abuse)

oh, not forget dropped loans.

your last paper: TAX FREE.

ok here is the thing, and am sorry to shock you, Kuwait won't be TAX FREE anymore.. when the British came here and divided the land and oil wealth share between Kuwaitis, they didn't consider the exponentially growing population, Kuwaitis where 100,000 maybe in 40's , now they are around 1 M, and with young guys getting married very early, the multiplier will be more than 10.

so..

More Kuwaitis, More Big Villas where 7 rooms out of 10 are enlightened while there is no one there, + More Expats to Serve Kuwaiti's facilities the they can't take care of , loads on Kuwaitis infrastructure.. more money to maintain it (poorly for expats areas), the more Mega (if not Giga ) Watts you need, the more Crude Oil you flame..

*this example is expandable on other aspects too.

The less the countries balance overflow will be, and one day, this overflow will become a shortage, maybe oil has depleted, maybe its not worth it anymore, and what the heck am going to do ? oooh shit, we don't have nukes reactors (oh we forget to do them and prefer to get new Cadillacs 2045 instead of building them) to power up my laptop and reply to this long endless post.

Damn!

your lucky and its destiny to be born at this place in this decade and hold its passport, but unless you start paying your huge electricity bill and pay taxes, and the government stop wasting money on stupid people with epic fail loans..,for your grand grand grand children at that time the blue passport for them won't be lucky..

I also wonder if the government cancel the Kafeel System, who is going to compensate those 500's and 1000's given to Kuwaitis from business owners just for a signature ? Government ? not to forget Residency traders..

Your Extra Arrogance is of Kuwaiti's people remarkable characteristics, and a topic discusses each time we deal with other gulf people have the same idea too as ours..that make us start to forget what we used to see, the kind humble generous people,

Kuwait gets my vote the moment it sets up a decent English FM station where Ms. Linda isn't the only DJ, agony aunt, Sears spokeswomen, the advertisment voice over and the news reader all rolled into one.
Now is that asking for too much??

Just my opinion, but I'm a British expat and I've been here a few years.
I accept Kuwait for what it is. It's a small country that has lots of money, but needs a little more work. What a lot of people don't realise is that this country is progressing in so many ways. If any of you read Mark's piece from National Geographic a few weeks ago, it shows how far Kuwait has come since 1952. (Kuwait was still a British protectorate then). However, some 'old' attitudes will take much longer to change.
My top 3 complaints about Kuwait would be:
1. Please don't tell me that you love your family and that's the most important thing in your life and then drive at 140 with your kids standing on the passenger seat!
2. Just because someone is from Asia does not mean they are 'sub-human'. Having a bright blue Kuwaiti passport does not mean you can push people out of the way. You don't do it when you visit my city (London) so don't do it here.
3. Can someone turn the temperature down in the summer please!

As for alcohol, it's here but I wish it wasn't. Don't move to a "dry" country and complain that there's no drink!
