A friend of mine downloaded a software patch that is suposed to help with the heat issue. I will see if I can get the name for you. Also can anyone give me the locations of where these mac stores are? I know the one in the mall and Mac City. I am looking for the other ones. Thanks, K-

Mark, they found what the problem was. There's a sticker that people forgot to remove that covered the ventilation under the screen. Read more on engadget.com :P

These laptops need a bit of refinement! I think you should wait at least until the end of the year before purchasing the laptop. I have a feeling your going to get one either way, just wait on it a bit and see what happens. There will be new releases over the next cuople of months! I keep reading about it!

it's because these type of laptops are too small to stuff in all this power. there is no space for heat to naturally dissapate.

this problem is noted in the comparable sony laptops as well since they share most of the components. sony solved the issue by putting in a really powerful fan. downside is that the fan gets slightly noisy at full power when the CPU is crunching.

first, intel are one of the worst company for fist line products.

always buggy and have tons of issues with people.

you will be amazed with the amount of fixes done to the second revision.

and you are in kuwait which make the situation even worse.

so small waiting is smart decision.

"Better safe than sorry"

but if i have extra $682.26 and i don't need it anymore, i will be in your road and fuck the 6 month it's too long man :)

Mark -

I just assembled a PC based around the Pentium 830 D - i.e. a slightly higher spec of the Intel Core Duo inside a Mac. The 830 D is rated at 3.0Ghz and compared to AMD, Intels dual cores have serious heat issues. The 830 D is probably the worst.

With a stock heat sink and fan (i.e. the ones that come out of the box), my system was running at 83 unloaded/ 92 loaded. The thermal range recommended by Intel for these chips is 69! So I have a long way to go. Notice that the chips have SmartStep which will slow down the processor by lowering it's power consumption if it gets too hot, so you won't end up with a fried processor. However, I'd recommend you wait until Intel sorts out the heat issues before going for the Macbook because it's a problem across all of Intel's dual-core chips. With my PC, I can get rid of the stock heat sink and get an aftermarket cooler (which is what I'm doing - I can drop the temp down to 40-50 for very little money). I'm not sure you can do the same thing so easily with a macbook.
