Global Finance magazine just released a list of the world’s 50 safest bank and the only bank from the region that made the cut was NBK which came in at #44. The German bank KfW topped the list at spot #1 while HSBC came in at #19. For the full list here is a [PDF]

I hate that horrible new log in process for watani online. It starts with 1-2 questions and asks you to identify a picture, before you even get a chance to put in your password.

Call them (1801801) and ask them if you can close your account anytime you want. i think you are able to close it anytime.
I’d go with Banco Santander ahead of all of them above it. Most of the others are minnows in comparison apart from BNP Paribas.
Al-Jawhara is the one with the (almost zero) chance of winning cash prizes. Ahh, the wonderful world of no interest savings accounts.
BNP Paribas is interesting, you can’t take cash out from a bank if your account is in another bank. I heard this from someone with an Account in BNP in France!

You can open and close any account whenever you want on the spot, even Jawhara accounts.

Kuwait , The chance of winning Al Jawhara is not good at all, if you calculate the number of people who have their money in this account to the chances of winning you will be very disappointed but now people are investing their money in such draw accounts because of the low interest rate on fixed deposits, so since every one getting nothing nowadays people are more willing to deposit there. Give it a try and Good luck.
P.S: take a look at the another account by Burgan Bank called Elite , you will have better chances as they made the draw for every 1,000 customers.
