FireFox 1.5 Beta 1

firefox logoI just downloaded FireFox 1.5 (Beta 1) and first thing I noticed is that none of my extentions are compatible with it. Other then that FireFox still visually looks the same. I was expecting the icons maybe to be updated or something. The Prefrences control panel has changed, it now works like most other Mac apps. The browser seems a bit faster in loading up websites and actually FireFox 1.5 as a whole seems lighter and quicker. Sadly I will have to install the older version of FireFox again because I need my extensions. Here is the link to the FireFox 1.5 Beta 1 Start Page. [Link]

Screw Firefox, its all about the Apple Webkit. It has replaced Firefox as my second choice browser after OmniWeb. And once the WebKit is finalized it will be placed in the OmniWeb core. So even more joy.

The major problem with Safari and Omniweb is they both don’t have extensions.

so what you are saying is omniweb has a ton of features i dont need all built in. Isn’t that bloatware? Don’t you keep saying you hate it when companies build so much crap into stuff you don’t need.

Firefox isnt bloatware. It comes with the basics. If you need a certain feature you can install it yourself as an extension. Firefox gives you choice and options. If you don’t want a spell checker in your browser you don’t need to have one. if you don’t want an ad blocker you dont need to have one. With Firefox you choose what you want.

Isn’t that the future? isn’t that what we always want, don’t you always want to customize something to make it fit you better?

My Firefox at home is different then my Firefox at work. Certain features I use when I browse at work I dont use at home so each version is customized to my needs. I am not stuck with a bloated software trying to make everyone happy by adding stuff i dont need.

You can either make your own burger, or get one from the restaurant that makes it just the way you like it everytime.

OmniWeb is just the way I like it, and the waitress that serves me is really cute.
