It’s still there Fonzy… or at least, it was last weekend. It looks like the car park is temporarily going to be used for this event. To be fair, it’s one HUGE car park.

So what if you want to participate?

no they demolished the iceskating ring, turned it into a karting track lol

building still there, parking in front of it still there. but the really huge parking lot on the side of it has TEMPORARILY been made into a karting track.

marzouq, if there was sand on the track and you had a dirt bike you could then ride around the track. at the moment the turns are too tight for a regular bike.

This race is like a mini Daytona 500 car racing (http://www.daytona500.com/)
For this year go kart winner is going to race next in Bahrain.
My brother is a driver in Kinko’s team :) so I will be there tomorrow cheering.
The guys in q8 are doing excellent job but there is no appreciation for all kind of auto racing in the Arabic Society, like any sport it is based on massive physical and mental strength. in auto racing we are talking about days of time duration not like soccer. Who did not hear about Paris-Dakar?????

For example, the fox desert rally team; their driver took the 2nd place and the 3rd place in UAE Desert Challenge 2002 – ATV category. On their expensive they flew all the way to the States where they got their gears from. This team received a huge media coverage by the European press because it was their first international race and they are in their early 20s; But unfourtgentaly they received a minimal coverage in the q8i media. Since then they are still looking for sponsor and no luck, racing is one of the most expensive sports out there.

Someone needs to make a bigger track for cars .. driving to bahrain is a drag.

this race is only for big corperate teams i.e. mtc, wataniya, kac, batelco.
and winners or losers they go all over the GCC kuwait bahrain dubai oman
    this is the 3rd year
for me the best time to go down there when its late as they will be racing for 25 hrs so around midnight it should be fun as they will have a DJ going on with some cool music all day and night :)

What do you mean motor sports are not appreciated in Kuwait?

We have one of the biggest and finest circuits in the middle east with some of the world’s finest drivers parading up and down it…..Google it…. El Gulf Roado Classico 24/365.

Regarding this racing thing. I think I went last year. It was pretty good (assuming I went)….It was like 5am and after a long hard night of partying….. ;)

I will be racing tomorrow for the Karting Angels team, it’s the only all-girl team. The race is not just for big corporate teams cause we aren’t corporate. Anyone can enter if you can pay for the entrance fee (1,800 KD)and get the suits, helmets, etc. That’s why they reccomend you get a sponsor so they can pay for everything but you don’t have to.

    Come support us tomorrow!
