512KB DSL Prices in Kuwait

These are the current DSL prices in Kuwait for a 512KB connection.

Qualitynet: KD24.5 a month (You need an NBK account for this price)
UnitedNet: KD25 a month (Yearly contract paid montly)
Fasttelco: KD70 a month (KD50 if paid 1 year in advance)

Just a note, Fasttelco had the lousiest sales guy when I called, really crap. UnitedNet don’t seem to have a website which I think is very ify Turns out they do have a website but google doesn’t know about it. With Qualitynet if you don’t have an NBK account then you need to pay the full year subscription in advance or you will have to pay the monthly fee of KD38.

FastTelco gives you double the speed. So it’s 21.333 KD a month.

  4. 4. Purgatory | August 6th, 2006 at 6:49 pm

I think if you pay on yearly basis with Q net you pay 21.67 KD monthly, regardless of your bank (I think this is done online, total 260 KD) and 23.3 KD if you pay in person (total 280 KD). The United price is even cheaper if I remember right, though they do not mention prices online, but they had a flyer showing a price close to 240 KD annunaly.

SlowTeleco is the worst of the bunch, no need to discuss anything about them.

United Networks dsl line is good. i use a dual connection, a 2Mb satellite line + a 128 Kbps dsl line and as promised i get a download speed of over 192 Kbps (the speed usually fluctuates between 20 KB to 25 KB depending on the server) which is good for the 10 KD p/m i pay.It is good enuff for normal surfing ,p2ps n some minor downloads but for the bigger files satellite is the only way! For KD 15 u get a 256 Kbps line and the guy says that the d/l speed is gonna be 320 Kbps which is again a good bargain i guess.ive been using the lines since an year now and so far so good, the satellite HAS NOT snapped or given any problems since day 1 but DSL went down once but they were quick to solve it! good customer service too..

qualitynet 256 for a year is 180 KD, and if you paid online NBK its 169, thats like 14 kd/month
(there going to make special summer dsl offers, which you get extra 3 months free for 169 = 11.266 kd / month ,

Qnet is going down, Kems is coming to the home user and its going to give Qnet one hell of a hard time.

I’ve been with United since last Feb using 512MB DSL. Going great I have to say. Paid 240 KD for tha annual contract, cheaper when you pay it full on one shot. They had this offer during the last “lame” InfoConnect, I’m not sure if it’s still valid though.

Average download spead ranges between 60-80 Kbps. I downloaded full movies in around 6-7 hrs.

Their support is ok. Just make sure you’re not talking to a trainee !

I have to say though that they were a bit lousy in setting up the WiFi network in my house and we had to call them back a few time.

    Overall.. Go for United !

Mark, which one do u advise? I need to get DSL at home but want the fastest and the most reliable.

  20. 20. Mark | August 7th, 2006 at 9:49 am

Well your choices are between Qualitynet and United.
Zajil (Kems) would be a recommendation if you were corporate.

Between Qualitynet and United I am using Qualitynet because I have had problems with the mother company of United who are Global Direct who also own Showtime and Shownet.

Kems are offering residential dsl as well. They offer 24mbs if you can afford it :P

    Sorry, slightly off topic-
I just came back from India, and there in my town, dial up is almost non esistant and prices of broadband internet are very very low, atleast in the 256kbps speeds (Unltmd/month = 5kd aprx) . 512kbps with transfer limits are around 10kd.
After using the net there in cafe’s with speeds of 1Mbps @ 100 Fils/hour, its a huge leap back when i am in kw. :(

  25. 25. Mark | August 7th, 2006 at 4:09 pm

no its the yearly price for everyone but if you have nbk account you can split the amount to 12 months and pay month by month.. without adding interest.

I got the price list paper from UnitedNet, here are the prices:
    >ADSL
    128kb - 10kd / month
    256kb - 15kd / month
    512kb - 25kd / month
(They don’t offer any speed beyond 512kb ADSL)

    >Satellite+ADSL
    2mb/64kb (1gb limit) - 18.900kd / month
    2mb/256kb (2gb limit) - 28.900kb / month

    Thanks for your post, FYI:
Kipco is the mother company of UnitedNetworks, and UnitedNetworks is the mother company of: GlobalDirect, ShowNet, GulfSat, and MarinaFM.
