And then there were two

Spy Car

Since I paid my traffic violation at the beginning of the month I have stopped speeding. I now cruise the Gulf Road going around 80-100km/h max but I guess its easier since I am driving the Wrangler instead of the Beemer. The Gulf Road car-cam must be catching a lot of people because the MOI has now expanded their coverage to include a second car-cam on my morning route. The original car-cam that caught me speeding 21 times was located just before McDonalds on the way to Kuwait City, the new car-cam is located just before Fuddruckers. If only it was possible to invest in these cameras…

  5. 5. Weld El-ma6aba | January 14th, 2008 at 1:39 pm

hellraiser, i agree… i’ve been using the passport detector and i haven’t had a problem since i moved back to kuwait.. not a single ticket when i’m driving my car (watch me get one on the way to work today)

the hardware for each speeding camera setup costs 50,000 KD, I know that because KOC has installed speeding cams at the fields (6 of them) totalling 300,000 KD

K- these cams shoot you from the rear

Hellraiser I know I know but in all my years driving I never got a speeding ticket or anything kind of fine so I never so the need to invest in a radar scanner… NOW on the other hand…

    Those are evil!

They’re funny if it’s not you getting caught, you just see people passing by and getting flashed, and the minute they get flashed they get angrier and speed more then calm down. The facial expressions are gold.

Does it take the shot at 90 or over 100?

And then there’s this another one on the Fahaheel Expressway just between the Messila/Sabah Al Salem Bridge and the 6th Ring Road Exit. There’s always a guy sitting inside… imagine the number of times he must be having a hearty laugh.

But then again, what a lousy job.

Suspic they don’t flash, the ones you are talking about are the mini jeeps that have a camera in the trunk, those flash. These on the other hand have cameras in the front and they don’t flash.

They catch you I believe going 30km+

And thats why the radical doesn’t have either.

  13. 13. suspic | January 14th, 2008 at 3:11 pm

Mark, I’ve seen it flash a bunch of times when they were first put out. Maybe they turned it off, ’cause people slowed down when a guy got flashed in front of them.

Now if a guy’s speeding and he doesn’t get flashed, people keep on speeding.

That’s a cash cow right there.

  14. 14. Mark | January 14th, 2008 at 3:16 pm

Suspic if it flashed in front of him that means its the car with the camera in the rear, those do flash. The car in the picture above has the camera in the front and this doesn’t version doesn’t flash. I know its a cash cow because I got caught speeding 21 times and I didn’t find out until I checked my traffic violation status online.

“if only..” yes you can invest in them, but you have to know someone really high in MOI .
on my way to work there is one, but with a small sign just feets b4 it saying “Camera Ahead” .

I would recommend a device to be installed in all vehicles in Kuwait, VDO is one of these devices which can do alot of things depends on how you program it but the main issue here it can monitor the over speeding. this device is widly used in companies have a feet and would like to monitor and reduce the car accidents and safety records.

    check out thier web site:

It will be a cold day in hell before I let someone install a VDO device (or similar) in my car. You want to prevent accidents, invest in a device that stops careless and incapable drivers.
