Aramex Shop & Ship Problems

WIRED

I really really really hate Aramex. I stopped using them for my important packages ages ago and instead started using U Shop We Ship who are much better. I now only use my Aramex account for my magazine subscriptions and it seems I can’t even trust them with that anymore. Today I got a package after not getting anything for 2 months and it turns out I have 2 months worth of magazines missing! I have been trying to call them since morning to try and see what happened but their lines are all busy, ALL THE TIME! I can’t understand why people still use Aramex, USWS isn’t perfect, they have their own issues but at least packages get shipped promptly from the US and do arrive in Kuwait on time. Where are my magazines???

I tried USWS, and they have the worst customer servicer ever. they asked me to go to their office three times to finally get my stuff, so I stooped using them. in the other hand,I got my iphone in 3 days ONLY using Aramex which was delivered to my home. unlike USWS u have to go get it! or wait more.

  6. 6. twaif | December 30th, 2007 at 1:58 pm

Why are u using aramex for your magazines? switch to USWS

  7. 7. LeP | December 30th, 2007 at 2:07 pm

hmm…i use ushopweship..and they have always delivered…unless i wanted it urgently and they just recieved the package..
i think customer service is prty good…theres a girl named Beverly there who is really sweet and extremely helpful….

  8. 8. Mark | December 30th, 2007 at 2:10 pm

Abdullah I never had a problem like that with them

twaif: I changed my aramex account to have them check my mailbox once a month, that way they gather up all the magazines and ship them to me once instead of shipping magazines as they get them. I used to get like 1 magazine before or a piece of mail and have to pay KD2.5

    is it a book?

  15. 16. Tan Go | December 30th, 2007 at 6:51 pm

FedEX has the best courier service in Kuwait. Better than TNT, Aramex, UPS, USPS, etc..

BUT partially the blame is on local government customs authorities. I have seen how they decide to let-pass some shipments at the airport. Its amazing! Sometimes the customs official decides (based on the size of the package) to let it go, without any care to its contents.

As a result, I sometimes find on my desk (a delivered but SMALL package) that contains products worth $ 20,000 without any customs voucher nor any customs paid,, and sometimes a rather LARGE package with goods worth $ 200 will stay ages at customs due to documentation problems…

I agree that Aramex are not great but I think DHL are the worst…

HNY Everybody and Thanks Mark for your efforts..

  20. 21. 7ussein | December 30th, 2007 at 7:51 pm

lets just say that aramex never take small packages like magazines and cds seriously i dont know why ,they just dont think that they should waste their time with small items :D…everytime i order something small like books or ps3 games it arrives like 3 wks or a month late! their service keeps getting worse.

  21. 22. Z | December 30th, 2007 at 10:39 pm

    You are right Mark,
USWS isn’t perfect, they have their own issues.
I will never deal with USWS again in my life.
    They suck big time.

  22. 23. Thamer | December 30th, 2007 at 11:46 pm

This is so weird. I hate USWS. Their packages take ages to arrive, their tracking information is useless, and customer service is generally clueless. I started using Aramex again and I’ve gotten my packages in a few days, the tracking information works professionally, and I’ve never had to contact customer service. Sure it sucks that they increased their prices recently, but at least I don’t have to wait a week to get my package excluding the time it takes for the item to actually leave the US.

  23. 24. Jagu | December 31st, 2007 at 12:00 am

When I was using Aramex they were always late with my packages, they used to stay in my mailbox for a very long time and when it gets to kuwait it also spend a long time with the drivers before they deliver. When they raise their prices I decided to try USWS and I dont regret it. My packages ship from my mailbox in 2 days and then it takes 3 days to get to Kuwait. Their drivers are bad and take a day to deliver the package to me but if I am in a hurry I just pick it up myself.

  24. 25. Nofers | December 31st, 2007 at 12:56 am

today I called aramex 20 times! My package has been shipped from Dec 12 and still no delivery.. What I hate is that they never answer the phone!! What’s the point of having customer service if u don’t answer the customers!! Anyway I left my no. For them 2 answer me back.. Let’s just hope it doesn’t take as long as their shipping service :s

  28. 29. Drunk_n_Gorgeous | December 31st, 2007 at 10:16 am

It takes 4-6 weeks for the first issue of your magz to be delivered. The rest of the issues are shipped much faster.

If you signed up for a yearly subscription, you start counting from the first issue that you got, so if you placed an order in September 2007, and only got your first issue in December 2007, you will be getting another 11 issues making a total of 12 issues (or whatever the amount you signed up for is) so your subscription ends and the last issue you’ll get will be on November 2008. The past months that you did not get anything do not count. You start counting from the first issue you’ve recieved.

  31. 32. Mark | December 31st, 2007 at 10:51 am

Drunk_n_Gorgeous they are all old subscriptions and they all expire next year. Plus they are on auto renew. Have been subscribed to them since 2001.

Its not the fault of all my magazine subscriptions, its Aramex.

  32. 33. holla | December 31st, 2007 at 11:27 am

I’ve been contemplating trying out Aramex, bc all my shipments through USWS have taken AGES and their website keeps going down.

Also when i went to clear my iphone the customs guys kept shouting at the agent i was with and they told me that they have no respect for the USWS agents and i should use aramex instead bc they are not stupid and can speak arabic better etc.

The agent eventually ran away without giving me all the paperwork and i had to fucking pop a vein on the phone to get another fucker from USWS to bring back the rest of the papers 2 hours later. it was a nightmare.

  33. 34. Nayef | December 31st, 2007 at 11:52 am

Mark, I quit Aramex due to their usual problems with the customs. I ordered two CD’s that got busted by the customs, got me into a lawsuit with the gov and ended up paying 200 KDs for two CD’s worth $ 20!!! why? because I ordered something got classified by these dicks as satanic music, while it’s on the shelves of Virgin (back then in its prime glory). For magazines, I’d stick to the old system of dealing with a bookstore. Try al-manarah bookstore, very neat and good. I deal with for years, they’re located near the video club in front of eurorika in salmiya.

  34. 35. Zahed | December 31st, 2007 at 12:01 pm

holla: all i can say is that customs treat everyone in the airport like crap and if you have a problem like that you are always welcome to contact me am always in the office and by the way we never had any problems with any i phones coming in so i guess in your case it was just luck.

  35. 36. Mark | December 31st, 2007 at 12:32 pm

WIRED subscription costs me only 10$ a year for 12 issues. In kuwait the price is nearly KD4 per issue. Its the same with all my magazines so you can imagine the amount I am saving by subscribing directly via the US.

  36. 37. SKYBET | December 31st, 2007 at 3:20 pm

    Mark: you sell out

Zahed: the only customers USWS has is Mark and uhhhhhhh……..that’s it i guess

USWS takes ages to deliver your package, just take a look at their office and compare it with Aramex and you will be know why it takes ages.

Never had a problem with them however there service is slow.

  39. 40. Khaled | January 1st, 2008 at 2:01 pm

They did miss only one package for me, but considering my alternatives, this is the only method (too bad they raised their per pound prices again)

  40. 41. hamad | January 1st, 2008 at 11:07 pm

aramex seems to have lost my new american express card that was sent a couple of months back. this pisses me off and i am still trying to locate it.

USWS suck too because they ended up overcharging me for a macbook held at customs. when i used aramex to order one of those there was no such issue.

  41. 42. Mark | January 1st, 2008 at 11:08 pm

hamad customs thing is random and has nothing to do with USWS. I ordered 2 macbooks, one got held in customs and i had to pay a fee the other passed through without a hitch. Both with USWS.

  48. 49. Bader | February 2nd, 2008 at 4:45 pm

I’ve recenetly found out about USWS and will be signing onto that to day after my previous experience with Aramex. I tried shipping an empty nitrous bottle through to Kuwait but Aramex says they can only ship it as a DGR goods.

I said ok, send the nitrous kit back to my supplier and i’ll get them to ship it out to me. They sent me an email the next day saying the shipping from NY to TX will cost me $130 = 40KD!!

I sent them back an email telling them not to try rip me off, I paid $15 for the kit to be sent up to NY and now Aramex are telling me it will cost me 10X the amount to send it back!? Mind my french, but I’m REALLY FUCKED OFF WITH THEIR SHITTY SERVICE!!!

I just hope USWS will offer me peace of mind!

  49. 50. Bob | February 3rd, 2008 at 10:06 am

From the looks of it here Aramex still have better customer service and inbound operations than the rest even if their US outbound is inferior. When all of them have problems including Aramex at least you have proper support case tracking that gets more management attention etc, so I’m not considering switching yet. But now , after the new Ebay refurbishment they stopped accepting Aramex’s Springfield NY telephone number for some crappy reason like “needs to be a landline number”. I have the whole chat transcript with Ebay customer service. So if now I can’t register my US shipping address with the biggest online merchant like Ebay, whats the point,m defeats the entire original purpose of Ship and Ship which was to facilitate e-commerce packages. Any ideas welcome guys.

  50. 51. Bader | February 4th, 2008 at 4:56 pm

Just to update on the $140 Aramex had charged me to send the package back to my supplier. I called UPS to see how much it actually cost and they told me it was $22.50 to send the 32LB package back to Texas. I told them the price Aramex was charging me and they laughed!!!

So it’s not just in Kuwait they’re trying to rip ppl off, it’s in the USA too!!! Crappy service, I’ve already opened up an account with USWS. Hope they won’t be as crap as Aramex

  51. 52. Bader | March 14th, 2008 at 6:07 pm

Another problem I’m getting with Aramex is what they call their random checks :) They assured me they were random, so thats why I asked them why my last 3shipments had been picked randomly making me have to clear the parts and pay an extra fee for custom tax.

Not only do I have to pay Aramex shop and ships price for CARGO (Where if they told me this problem, I would’ve sent it from my independant exporter for cargo in the USA), but they give me the excuse that my items are RANDOM checks, its been 3 shipments in a row!?!?

Aramexs service is crap, it’s true. I looked into their regulations, and they state once the package reaches over 23Kgs it will be considered cargo, once the package reaches $2500 it will be considered cargo.

If they stop any more of my shipments this time, I’m taking out a court case against them as they’re going against what their rules and regulations say :)

I have been using Aramex shop and ship for the past 6 years, and I have seen service go down gradually until it reached what it is today, absolute crap!!!. I do not know USWS, but I know use the DHL to ship directly from Amazon or others directly to me, it is faster the cheaper. I only use Amazon if the shipper does not ship outside the US.

  59. 60. Murad | December 18th, 2008 at 1:29 pm

    Greetings Mr. Ayman,

It’s really unfortunate to hear that you are not satisfied with aramex and started searching for other carriers; however I would like to invite you upon your convenience to meet or contact me as we are very interested in addressing the areas where you believe our service has declined in the hopes of reaching an understanding on how we can improve our customer service level.

The serivce is so bad, i have been requesting papers for 3 weeks and they keep putting me on hold for long time with no use, and no coordination among the same staff.
Also, every thing coming to Jordan has to go throught customs even for small items you willl end up paying 3 times the price as tax and customs. and you pay tax for the delivery services, and weights given are never correct.

  61. 62. Saddy Qadah | March 22nd, 2009 at 3:29 pm

FUCK ARAMEX BIG TIME… WTF? I bought 4 shoes for my kids… weight 10.5 LBS.. Aramex costs are 60JD .. and yet, they want me to pay 140 JD more for customs.. i will make the theif bastards return the item to the shipper and take my money back .

  62. 63. Samer Awad | March 24th, 2009 at 1:01 pm

I totally agree with you Saddy ….they Suck also custums SUCK they steel money and let you pay things that you should not be paying …and i am not talking about custums, they let you pay Sales Tax ????? WHY THE HELL YOU SHOULD PAY SALES TAX FOR THINGS THAT YOU DID NOT BY FROM JORDAN AND YOU ALREADY PAID IN THE COUNTY YOU BOUGHT FROM ….this issue should be solved or Aramex and will close down soon….custums should work in a proper way and not steel money from people ….this SUCKS

  63. 64. Samer Awad | March 24th, 2009 at 1:02 pm

Hi everyone. I have a jewelry store on Amazon. I get a lot of customers from the Middle East. Most of them use Aramex. I ship all over the world, and I use USPS. For international orders, I use Priority Mail and insurance. I remember one time a man ordered a beautiful cuff bracelet with horses on it for $249.99. He did not have an Aramex address. He was in Bahrain. I used the United States Post Office and shipped Priority Mail. I also put insurance on it just in case anything went wrong. Everything went well and the man received his bracelet in less than two weeks from when I shipped it. Just thought I would share that because it worked out very well and my customer was very happy.
