Bear for sale?

Someone in Kuwait is selling a bear, isn’t that illegal? Where are the authorities, I can understand they don’t care about dogs or cats but at least when it comes to bears you would think they would give a damn. [Link]

    OMG.

    7aram.

I once considered buying stuff from q8pets, now I don’t think I ever will again.

God sake. How did they even get this animal into this country? Stolen from the local zoo? Shipped in from ———— ?
It’s a bear, it’s need terrain like; tropical rainforest, waterfalls and trees……… NOT Kuwait.

Why don’t you contact Kuwait Zoo and ask them to build an exhibit for it?

  9. nyx says:

Yeah, Yeah, Yeah! We all whine and cuss about the pathetic state of the animal but no one and I affirm no one including myself is gonna care a rats arse about it, within 30 seconds from posting their comments!
Face it; we are a spineless species! Animals are much better than us. As for this poor bear; God bless you or liberate you from this suffering my friend.

I agree with nyx, if you wana complain, you gotta act on what you say. Dont just complain and walk away, complain and do something about it.

Thats just..wrong!! They should donate him to the Omariya Zoo. I think thats the best solution.

If a government did not move for human being’s lives, I really can’t see it acting for an animal.

    WTF

  15. Zaid says:

if you guys go on the website, you would actually see that the seller appears to also be selling other types of uncommon domestic animals like raccoons, “lazy monkey?”, a cheetah, and etc (the number posted for the bear is the same for the other animals)… so im guessing it’s some private owner that wants to rid of all his “exotic” animals.

it’s in a very bad shape, I wish we had animal police …

a couple of weeks ago I went to the aquarium and I noticed a shark at the bottom of the tank which sure seemed like it was dying. I looked closely and I was shocked to see another fish next to it!

AFL thinks the bear has been sold.

Why do people import cold-weather-dwelling animals to Kuwait? Huskies and Chow-chows, for example. It is just plain stupidity. There is always the challenged individual who leaves his long-haired German Shepherd outside in the summer and when it drops dead from heat stress, they say that “it’s natural”. Yeah it’s natural! The dog shouldn’t BE there! It should be in its NATURAL environment. I’d like to see some of these idiots flown to Iceland and dropped on a frozen tundra to see how they would do.

Better yet, leave your kid in the back yard in the summer. Natural?

I brought my 300 ZX from a cold-weather environment (it was built on specifications for New England). The CAR didn’t do well in Kuwait – consistently overheated. What about animals?!

  27. Ant says:

Hey I heard from a valid source the other day that this bear has been rescued. Apparently people have all kinds of endangered species in Kuwait (and a Grizzly Bear is considered one of them).

A lot was done to resuce the bear, and its now in the Kuwait Zoo (not much of an upgrade but at least there are experts there to take care of the animals)…

Please if you know of any more incidents like this please notify this blog.

  28. Wiss says:

    Hey Mark,

read the front page of Kuwait times today.

The government stopped the sale of the bear!
    :)

  29. Wiss says:

    Oups….I meant Arab Times.

  30. Desert Girl says:

Wooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! The bear has been rescued! That’s great news!

He had been living in a cage, in direct sunlight, eating rice and water.

THANK YOU, Mark, for your contribution to the rescue effort. Without people like you who get angry when they hear about an injustice taking place – and then publicizing it – things just don’t happen.

I’m also glad that AFL is working so hard to assist animals in Kuwait. For those who don’t already do it – send them donations! They need all our help.
