Burger Review: Gourmet Burger Kitchen
It’s been a while since my last burger review and I was hoping to start it off again with a great burger but that didn’t happen. I passed by Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) today for lunch, it was my first time and probably my last.
Their burger menu is pretty big with lots of different styles to choose from. I asked the waitress what their most popular burger was and she told me it was the Cajun Burger. She also told me they had a special offer now where they gave away a drink and fries with the burger. I thought that was cool and I went ahead and ordered it.
The Cajun Burger is made up of Black-Angus beef, smoked chili mayo, salad, and Cajun relish. It didn’t take too long to arrive and at first glance it was disappointing. The burger looked very dry and unappetizing while the bread itself looked very poor and thin. It didn’t get any better from there. Once I had my first bite I realized that although looks can be deceiving, it wasn’t in this case. The burger didn’t taste good, the Cajun relish was slightly sweet and I didn’t think it went well with the chili mayo while the bun was the worst part. The upper half of the bun was very thin and was breaking apart while I was having the burger as if it was old. The burger was also pretty messy to eat which didn’t make things any better.
For a place like GBK which specializes in burgers its strange that their buns are so bad. Maybe GBK is a popular place in London but with strong local creations like The Burger Hub and Slider Station, GBK doesn’t have a chance here. I gave the burger a 1.5 out of 5. The burger patty was good but everything else around it wasn’t.

I tried – i don’t know what burger – at GBK and i rmmbr it was REALLY bad, who recommended this place to u anyways?

Did you try Black & White burger at Qurtuba Co-Op ? Its the “it” domestic resto these days, Inspite of the fact its located in a Co-Op but its really really good and they have good variety of burgers too.
Black& White also opened a branch at the Free Trade Zone..next to the Starbucks…and ya…that’s a really good place..they even started sliders..(small burgers)….
my experience was completely different than urs.. i have the avocado burger,, that was in dubai and i really loved it. i don’t know if it’s available here in kuwait or not
the only downside was that the messiness, and it was very annoying

The London GBK is excellent.
The Dubai GBK is good.
The Kuwait GBK was average.
Mark u should try Black & white like SJM and Halahal already mentioned.. I think its a local business (correct me if im wrong) and for a local business its a really good place..

For my experience i give them 3 stars .. so far ur doing a great with the burger reviews .. there are some more places u should check though ..

- the burger @ Jad Steak ” aka sheel o mahy ” which is behind salmiya’s Platinum “shari3 al ma6a3im” .. they make the patties .. and they usually put some fries with it and a little of black sour sauce .. i recommend u to have it that way .. good luck .. we are following :)

I been to GBK last weekend and i tryed the cheeseburger and believe me when i say it wasent even cooked. When i told the waitress she said this is the way it cooked. I will never go there again.

Took eclipse’s Advice and just went had lunch at Black and White in the free trade zone (next to my office) and the BW classic (added BBQ sauce) was pretty decent! the bread was good, the patty was good, the cheese was all nice and melted (just how I like it!) so would recomend you try it out especially after your dissapointment of GBK.
On another very important note, I have been trying to register with you shop we ship so that I can get some city moleskine and some US PS3 games and the site seems to have dissapeared!!!! I keep getting redirected to andhosting.com!!!!! anyone know whats going on? is it still the best option for getting amazon stuf??

ive heard they have 3 great veggie burgers.. gotta try them sometime..
been to GBK just last week with my kid, they enjoyed the cheese burger and classic burger was quite nice, and the fries are gr8.
would give it a 3.5 of 5.

GBK is great and for me they have the most delicious burguers in al middle east!

Had a Cajun Burger and a BBQ Burger for take out a couple of weeks ago. Went back the following week and ordered a Cajun– strangely, it had what I had assumed to be the BBQ sauce in it. I asked the server about it and she said that this was the normal Cajun sauce and even brought out two sauces on a small plate to taste. A couple of days later, I came back for a BBQ burger and they served me one which had the same sauce as my previous ‘Cajun’ burger– the one that I had initially thought to be BBQ! By that time I was sure that the kitchen staff don’t know what they actually serve.
Maybe ur referring to relish, as all their burgers have relish on top. BBQ sauce looks same relish, I had the same thought b4. So the waitress offered me a free taste for all the sauce & explain the components of their burger & the difference of each. Heard they have Anni Offer of Buy 1 Take 1. Will check this out.

Well I was looking for somebody to share my opinion on GBK … and finally found one … Man u r Spot on … The burger sucks .. And I took famliy and just regretted every bit of it…. Hardees could score higher than GBK … Cheers
