Burger Review: Bredz

Since this is a burger challenge I should be reviewing burgers from the popular burger joints in Kuwait like Burger Hub and Slider Station yet so far I haven’t done that. I guess its because I know what to expect from them and I’m more interested to see whats available elsewhere. I will be reviewing the popular burger restaurants of course but maybe towards the end of the challenge. For now I’m enjoying trying out burgers at non burger places and todays review is no exception.
I passed by Bredz in Souk Sharq for lunch and fumbling through their ugly menu I found the page which included the burgers. With only two options to choose from the decision wasn’t too hard. It was either the regular Bredz Burger or the Bredz Mushroom Burger, not wanting an experience like yesterdays I decided to go with the regular Bredz Burger. The Bredz Burger is a beef burger grilled on an open flame, topped with mozzarella and cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce and Dijonaise mayonnaise sauce on a chipotle bread.
Once the burger arrived I got a big grin on my face. This is what a burger is supposed to look like, big fucking patty covered with a lot of cheese on a plate full of fries. Finally a burger that looked like a burger and I was hoping tasted like one. With the bun top on, the burger looked gigantic and getting my first big bite into it wasn’t easy. After my first mouthful I was relieved, it tasted like a burger! Now it wasn’t really great but it was pretty good. The bun was fantastic, the beef tasted good and the dressing although slightly over powering wasn’t annoying. I think without the salad like dressing the burger might be even better plus they really had too much lettuce on the thing. The burger was also messy to eat specially near the end when the bun started falling apart but it is a burger so some messiness is to be expected.
Now as I said previously, I am going to be tough with these reviews because I am looking for something really special. This burger although good wasn’t extraordinary and thats why I’m giving it a 3 out of 5 which is still a really good score. I would definitely go back again for lunch.

Bredz is located in Souk Sharq, their telephone number is 2407707
The cost of the Bredz Burger is KD2.750

Kindly, you must watch your cholesterol level; according to the international doctors standards it should not exceed 5 .

wow 5.750KD burgers and 2.750KD ($18 and $8.50) burgers? does anyone else other than me find this way too expensive for a burger? im used to $1 mc chickens from mcdonalds

Omar not all burgers are the same. Its not like a canned pepsi where u find it for 100fils at the super market but the exact same can for 800fils at a restaurant. The difference between a burger at mcdonalds and a burger at a good restaurant is the quality of the ingredients.

Have you tried the burgers at chilis?

The best burger I’ve had so far is at Red Robin, a chain here in the US that specialises in hamburgers. They’re thick, juicy, and they come with UNLIMITED steak fries (*drool*).
For the best fast-food burger in the Middle East (or at least in the UAE), you can’t go wrong with Burger King, followed closely by Hardee’s. Why McDonald’s continues to exist is beyond me.

yeah red robin is good, also big boy and all the mum and pop places. there are TOO many great burger joints in the US, it’s amazing.

My favorite burger sandwich in Kuwait is the (Rocket burger sandwich) from Johnny Rockets. I recommend it to you Mark.
My second best is the Original from Fuddruckers.

Hi 2:48am,
I don’t usually visit your page but after hearing about your Burger Challenge I was compelled to tell you about one of the best burgers that can be found in Kuwait. Its at Johnny Rockets. You may be thinking that you’ve had everything there but keep reading!
Order the following:
A Original Kids Meal with Cheese. ADD: lettuce, grilled onions, Red Red Sauce, pickles and tomatos if you’re a tomato guy. Also order some Tabasco and ranch dressing on the side to dip every once in a while.
Do what tastes right!

i know exactly where you need to go, and these will settle this “BEST BURGER IN KUWAIT” Challenge
- Johnny Rockets (obviously one of the best)
- Burger Co. (great burgers)
- Gaucho grill - yes they do have burgers and they are amazing
21. Mark | March 16th, 2008 at 9:55 am
Zed are we talking about Burger Co. which is in Hawalli? Cuz when I last tried their burgers I think they were more like a 1.5 out of 5.

I got food poisoning from Bredz. I don’t trust it any more. The trust is gone.
23. cajie | March 16th, 2008 at 12:42 pm
This picture of yours is one of the best so far of all the burger pictures.
I am guessing it has to do with the better lighting available in Souq Sharq.
If it was not for the burned edges of the patty, this would have looked like a very appetizing meal, but the burnt meat plus the glob of cheese is giving me a sick feeling in my stomach. Never really realized how disgusting burgers look.
If nothing else, at least by the end of your burger review, you would have converted a large section of your readers to become Vegans. :)

yeah used Nats Sony N1 camera. I’ve decided to have burgers for lunch only so that i can take better shots.

Hey Mark,
It was interesting to read about your burger challenge. I am curious though of a few things.
a.Do you let the establishment know prior when you are going in to try their burgers(or any food for that matter) or do you tell them that you are doing a food review while you are actually there or you don’t inform them at all.
b. Do you take responsibility of your comments or the comments of guests to your blog in case of any falsified or ignorant observations/comments that are made due to ignorance of subject matter and which cause undue distress or losses.
thanks
29. Mark | March 16th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
a) No I don’t inform them of course.
b) Why would I want to take responsibility for some anonymous strangers comment? So no, I don’t take responsibility for people’s comments. My comments I do take responsibility for.

hi,
have u tried the burgers at Al-Raya, I think it is called burger botique? rumor has it, they serve the best burger in kuwait. there is another place by al-seef palace which has over 90 different burgers all created by a kuwaiti.
I love burgers, but could not get myself to eat one after I watched the fast food nation movie based on a book by the same name….heard of it? pretty amazing facts.
good luck

What about the GBK burgers?? Now they are pretty darn good too - are you going to review them. The vegos would be happy too, cos there is a couple of non-meat varieties on the menu…not that I’ve tried them (couldn’t think of anything worse than a falafel pattie…ugh!)
