DHL EasyShop

After Aramex increased their prices last month many readers decided to sign up with DHL’s version of the same service which they call EasyShop. If you happen to be one of the readers who signed up with DHL and started receiving packages with them could you please post your feedback about them below in the comments. I am curious as I am sure many other readers are to see how they differ from Aramex. Both DHL and UShopWeShip have kept their prices the same.

    I still use UShopWeShip.. been with them for a while now. Prices haven’t changed, and they’re pretty awesome. I think I’ve only lost one or two packages in the past two years which is good for Kuwait standards.

    I’ve been using DHL Easyshop after these new rules from aramex and they are super fast and cheaper than aramex

    this is the info of my last DHL shipment

    Item: Apple Airport Extreme
    Arrived in mailbox on: 30/10/2009
    Shipped from mailbox on: 31/10/2009
    Received on: 03/11/2009
    Weight: 2 KG
    Paid: 11KD

    using the aramex calculator and adding the extra 1KD, thats actually cheaper than aramex and much much faster

    only downside is they don’t deliver, you have to pick your shipments yourself

    also DHL recently, (after the aramex scam) changed the way they calculate the weight and they will only calculate the actual weight and not the volumetric weight they used to use, I guess to get more people to join them since their old way of calculating the wight was so complicated and would actually charge you more

    I dont know if this is related, new, or existed before; I shipped a package to Bahrain last week and I was told that we had to pay an additional KD2 for costums handling.. that was funny.. i guess,,

    Actually received two packages from DHL easyshop yesterday… prices are relatively the same…
    the only change is that DHL are now charging only based on actual weight and not on volumetric weight anymore… good news!

    In any regular country Aramex would have had to match its competitors lower pirces. Sadly over here the opposite will happen. After a month or so USWS and DHL will end up matching Aramex’s higher price. Thats what happens when there are no price fixing laws, everybody is a cartel.

    i have experience with easyshop good service but they sometimes charge custom fee bayan fee …etc even the shipment value less than 100$ !!
    i’ll convert to http://www.shipito.com/ they have mailbox in California and they ship by USPS Express (EMS) or Fedex by actual price X 20% discount + 8.5$ paypal fees i’ll depend on it for high value and heavy shipments to get rid of custom fees thingy

  12. 12. BJ | November 9th, 2009 at 4:53 pm

    I am sticking to Aramex, 1KD extra + 5% if > 100 USD is not that much of a difference to me. The reason is I just had a really bad experience with Fedex, 17KD custom fees! For a freakin iphone case! So yeah never again, Aramex is a god send compared to Fedex and UPS.

  13. 13. Mark | November 9th, 2009 at 5:03 pm

    I paid KD33 customs today with FedEx but for 4 wheels worth like $800

  14. 14. BJ | November 9th, 2009 at 5:12 pm

    My case was worth $30…*cries* I paid more than the case itself in Custom Fees! BS if you ask me. But yeah Aramex is good for me atm.

    According to frankom DHL is awesome. Never bothered with SHITAMEX so looks like i might have to sign on them instead.

  16. 16. dandoon | November 9th, 2009 at 6:17 pm

    i just paid 33kd for two aramex packages that weighed 3kg and both packages cost around $60 each! total ripoff.

    Mass migration to DHL ….3…2…1 GO!!

    Seriously I cant wait for 14 days on each damn Bluray package!

    ARAMEX = FAIL

    Hopefully DHL will take notice and start their own home delivery service. If Mcdonald’s can deliver here…You should too.

    *spoiled Kuwaiti*

  18. 18. Ahmed | November 9th, 2009 at 7:29 pm

    I ordered a blu-ray movie it took 6 days to arrive at the DHL facility and I paid 3.5 KD for shipping without any additional costs.

  19. 19. Yousuf M | November 9th, 2009 at 9:08 pm

    Oh DHL seems very good here.. compared to aramex. but yea as some one above said, kuwaiti laws do not restrict the price fixing.. damn! until we have that we have to try and go with the cheapest.

  22. 22. Aaref | November 9th, 2009 at 11:21 pm

    DHL easyshop charges according to actual weight and not like Aramex

  23. 23. frankom | November 9th, 2009 at 11:32 pm

    @Aaref

    DHL Borderlinx is just like shopandship from aramex

    they charged me KD3.5 for 2 dvds unlike aramex they would charge KD4 and you could receive them in 2 or 3 weeks but with DHL borderlinx you will get them in a week

  24. 24. POP | November 9th, 2009 at 11:36 pm

  26. 26. Flava Sava | November 10th, 2009 at 9:16 am

    i have a question here…. it’s according what u wrote Mark (After Aramex increased their prices)…. did aramex really increased their prices??
    becuase as i knew the weight charges are still the same since July 2008 (1st 1/2 KG is 3 KD & any additional 1/2 is 2.5 KD)…. so i don’t think that what you wrote is correct man.

  27. 27. JROM | November 10th, 2009 at 10:56 am

    When you say you have to pick up the items, where do you actually pick it up?

    Can the items be forwarded and picked-up from a DHL branch near you?

    Book by Aramex:

    Weight 1 lb
    No. of Pieces 1
    Package Type Box
    Status Shipped
    Date Shipped 11/5/2009
    Shipment Charges 3 KWD

    3KD!.. not 3.5, not 3.5 + 1
    I actually paid 3KD only for 1lb

    I have another shipment (received): 0.7lb = 2.8KD

    .. did Aramex changed their prices??

  34. 34. Mark | November 11th, 2009 at 9:18 pm

    Thats weird. Documents you don’t pay the new KD1 handling fee but you should have paid at least KD3.5 not 3.

  35. 35. lukas | November 11th, 2009 at 9:52 pm

    I called them and they said books are not documents!

    My recent orders (all delivered, all books, paid exactly the below):

    0.65lb = 2.65KD
    0.7lb = 2.85KD
    1lb = 3KD
    3.15lb = 8KD

    I am getting confused what are the rules. Will call them tomorrow and ask about these prices.

  36. 36. boss | November 16th, 2009 at 6:35 am

    Aramex will calculate the total weight and then split the money into the shipments calculate your weight it will be 5.51 lbs according to the online calculator its 15.5 KD plus that 1 Extra KD its 16.5 if all your shipments came together then my estimation is right :p

  37. 37. lukas | November 16th, 2009 at 12:18 pm

    1. They did not come on the same day.
    2. 1st lb = 3.5 KD (not less)

  38. 38. Nisreen Akpata | November 17th, 2009 at 6:21 pm

    I have done a lot of shopping on United States websites and had items shipped to me here in Kuwait. The parcel forwarding service that I use is Bongo International and they ship through DHL.
    In the 3 years that I have used Bongo, I have never had a shipment lost or returned because DHL has delivery confirmation and my packages have always arrived in about 3 days.
    Also, I can tell when I open the boxes that everything was packed very tightly and in some cases consolidated. I can tell by the weights that this has probably saved me some money on the shipping.

    3 days is too much, I’d rather pay cheap for aramex than being ripped off with a terrible quality
