RE: Zain providing nowhere near the 7.2 mgbs per/s...

The speed gets better the closer you are to Salmiya, plus it depends on what your downloading and from where. I recomend if you want to test your speed download from microsoft.com. They have the largest trunk in the world and will give you a good idea of what your top speeds are. Getting 7.2 is a pipe dream anyway, but provided your firware is up to date and you have a fast download site you can do it.

As far as the ip address is concerned, you have a few issues there. Basically there are few providers that are going to give you a 'Static' ip address which is more or less what you need for what you want to do. The problem is that when you connect your getting a Dynamically assigned IP address from a pool of such addresses. When you log off, or your connection is reset, that IP goes back to the pool for whoever... Most ISP's will charge extra for a 'STATIC' IP address, which is a permanently assigned IP like a personal phone number.

I'm not sure that's exactly how they have it set up, but that's what it looks like.

True that the e-Go of MTC vodafone(ZAIN) is the best i like it i can carry it anywhere, but there is a problem beside of being the best, Because i was trying to set up my own FTP server, but its not working though i set it up correctly, hey i'm doing this to access my files in my own PC wherever and whenever i want. try to know the problem, The problem? I found out that i am behind a firewall and if you check your IP address in www.whatismyip.com, it will give you different IP address, different than what it is saying in your connection right click your connection(while your connected to the internet) - go to status - go to supprt and look for the client address... it is different from the one that you inquire in whatismyip.com. can anyone tell me how to set up a ftp server besides of this problem i encounter??? help is very much appreciated.. you can email me at michael.sumagaysay@gmail.com, thanks in advance.

Just got the 7.2 Mbps unlimited today, and here's what I noticed:-

1) The USB modem they give you has a maximum speed of 3.6 Mbps. This is a hardware limit, and not a network one, so how I'm supposed to get 'up to 7.2' is beyond me.

2) The latency on the connection is higher than DSL, but the d/l, u/l speed is high. I get around 1.5 Mbps down and 500 kbps up, average. Faster than DSL but no where near what Zain promises.

3) The modem is actually supported natively on new linux kernels, you just need a front end to use it. google 'Vodafone Mobile Connect Card Driver' and you should be on your way.

Does anyone have the access settings for zain's 3g network. I need username, password, apn & DNS settings. Any help would be awesome, either reply here or email: ninjafury *AT* yahoo *DOT* com.

Or even check what is their current total download up-to-date?

Ok so i've been playing with 'The Toy' as I call it. The Black Ego version 2, whatever you want to call it. In an area where I can barely get UMTS connection on Wantiya "mangaaf", I have been downloading at speeds of around 1.5-2Mbps. My Hi has been 2.6Mbps. So far the thing works great. It does suffer a little bit when playing XBOX Live, Halo works pretty decent, but Call Of Duty 4 still isn't working. Considering I don't have phone lines I can't get anything better, so it's lookin like the best i've had thus far.

Good luck Gents.

Hey guys, just an update...

I bought the ego 'mine i black though' today for 60kd and the cost is up a bit. Still 16kd for the limited 5gb at 384kbs, but I got the unlimited at 27kd p/month with speeds up to 7.2GBp/s. Now that's what the advert says. I haven't actually speed tested it. Details at www.kw.zain.com

But Wataniya is the devil!

TheVamp:
HSDPA connections have high DL speeds but upload is only as good as Dialup. Online games will be laggy cuz they require both UL/DL. Hoever, i still use hsdpa for PS3 since FiberOptic routers have a DNS error with PS networking. it's good for that use but always keep in mind Latency (ms lag) will only be good if the server is close to you physically.
Reroll EU servers imo
