Edo
I finally got to try Edo on Friday for lunch and I didn’t find the place that special. With all the hype built up by the “Edo Pride” groupies I was expecting the place to be the place. Everything I tried tasted pretty bland and boring. I still prefer Kei over Edo even though I don’t eat at Kei anymore after Nat found what looked like a thick eyebrow in her maki. I hear Shogun at The Palms is good so I think I will give that a shot this weekend.

5. D | July 28th, 2007 at 9:49 pm
of course u wont like edo. its hard core sushi unlike the rest of them with all the sauces and grafitti they put.
6. Purgatory | July 28th, 2007 at 9:52 pm
I doubt you would like edo, if you are used to other types of fusion maki.
7. Mark | July 28th, 2007 at 9:52 pm
D I didn’t compare it to Maki, I compared it to Kei.
8. Mark | July 28th, 2007 at 9:55 pm
Purg I went to Edo looking for regular sushi since I needed a replacement for Kei.
If I wanted fusion maki I would have gone to maki, Wasabi or Fusion.

What’s wrong with eyebrow hair!
Good that you found it! Just imagine how many times you have already swallowed eyebrow hairs and other things without noticing!
Are you so sure that the chef never sniffed into your food? Or the Pilipino who is bringing your food never sneezed in it? You never know what you are eating till you once discover something.

urgh don’t remind me, it was the grossest thing. i don’t get grossed out easily, even hair in the food i usually just put aside but in sushi its a different story!

what is the name of the sad sushi place in fanar that is basically set up in the middle of the walking area and you can just like pass between the tiny tables and laugh at the dumbasses eating?
***REMOVED BY ADMIN*** fuck that sushi place, it’s by far the worst.
16. Mark | July 28th, 2007 at 11:38 pm

17. SilverSurfer | July 28th, 2007 at 11:55 pm
Holla I am not with “Niqab” in general since Islam did not enforce this on moslem women. However, I dont agree with you calling them animals and filthy !! as outfit has nothing to do with this, since you look so high class, cool and Americanized but still your ****REMOVED BY ADMIN****

THANK YOU!!!! IN YOUR FACE, PURGY! (I’m not a big fan of Edo either.)
The place that used to be in Fanar with the revolving sushi is now in the same mall with Fresh (Al-Khalid) near Bardawni. It is Kaitan. The new one has a very nice atmosphere (no revolving sushi) and not as expensive as other places. It is never crowded - I don’t think many people know about it yet.
There is also a little sushi cafe in Marina Crescent in the arcade (forget the name) near the Harley store (end close to Gulf Rd). I haven’t tried it yet. I worry about sushi and arcade games for some reason. It is kind of like Japanese Chuck E Cheese without that damn annoying mouse…

23. Weld El-ma6aba | July 29th, 2007 at 9:30 am
stay away from shogun!! their food is good but I got a really bad food poisoning from something I ate there.

Personally I prefer Maki & Edo. Tried the rest. The best Chinese place is China House, it’s somewhere behind Al-Thuraya mall. Nice tiny place & excellent food.
Is this a my-shushi-is-bigger&longer-than-your-shushi kind of thing with holla?

I like EDO a lot, especially at night. The structure and design is comfortable and soothing. No stupid TV monitor showing Melody or Mazzika. And it has a nice civilized crowd usually… but i would never consider it for friday lunch and I can’t believe it’s your first time when the place has been around for years
The food? It’s pretty good if you know what to order. The shitake mushrooms are terrific and the spinach and sesame salad is amazing, nobody else in town does them.
For fusion makis.. Maki is it

Gang bang, I hit the ground

30. Fabio | July 29th, 2007 at 3:23 pm
The one by Fresh and Berdawni is called Kaizen, it is very good, the food there is very tasty, good varity of rolls, and sashimi. Teppayaki is excl…and the interior is very modern, good music, and lots of parking space..

The best fusion Japanese restaurant in the GCC is Mirai in Bahrain. Maki is Kuwaiti-Japanese fusion. Edo is hardcore. Kei used to be the best. I think it is for sale now for KD 1 million.
32. Mark | July 29th, 2007 at 5:13 pm
Why is Edo counted as hardcore? i didn’t see anything on the menu that was different, they didn’t have any fugu, just regular everyday fish.
33. nonaw | July 29th, 2007 at 8:09 pm

I just had Sakura in Lila Gallery.
The Worst Sushi and Sashimi i had in my life.
Is this a joke or what?
I will not even give it one star!
my bill was 16 KD after 50% Discount on happy hour.
They server was on her first day of work, she could not follow up my order.
The chief is Indian or Pakistani or else.
Nothing like a Japanese Greeting from a real Japanese chief.
Never been that disappointed.
