Will that be an event that people (kids) would enjoy watching or do you really have to be ‘in it’ to ‘win it’ ?
Would love to take the kids.

    Mark ,

im actually thinking of getting a wrangler very similar to urs , but everyone is advising me against it, saying that it over heats in the summer . A/C bad etc etc . You have one what are ur thoughts ?

Calvin: I’ve owned and driven a lot of cars and the Wrangler is one of my favorites if not my favorite. Its absolutely a blast to drive and I’ve had no mechanical issues at all with the car. I’ve had the car for over 4 years and I’ve had no overheating issues, no AC issues, no electric issues, no engine issues and no anything kind of issues. I drive it very hard and its taken all my abuse. But, its not a soft ride and definitely not a quiet one but if you’re thinking of getting a Wrangler you already know that :)

I am sure anyone with a wrangler here will agree with me. You could also go to http://www.jeepforums.com and ask them there :)

Another plus with the wrangler is the amount of customization you can do to it. Check http://www.quadratec.com
They not only deliver to Kuwait but their shipping prices are unbelievably cheap. I purchased 5 heavy steel wheels from them and it cost me KD90 to ship to Kuwait by Fedex and it arrived 3 days after I placed the order!

    Well ,

i guess i came to the right place to get my advice. I want the car to accomodate 4 people easily and im able to go out to the desert the guys and beat it up on the dunes a bit . Here are my choices

    Wrangler – 2008 – done 1000 km price – 5500
FJ Cruiser – 2008 – done 37,000 km – the dude is asking for 7500

i really love both the cars and my budget is around 6500 to 7000 if i push it .

    what u think !

Well I am not too familiar with the new wranglers and not really a big fan of them. A friend of mine has an FJ thats been very nicely lifted and if I had to choose between the two judging by the looks I would go with the FJ. Also the fact that the FJ is a Toyota helps.

But I heard that its not nice sitting in the back of the FJ.. too claustrophobic but I havent tried it.

If my budget was 7K i might push it up to 8K and get a clean second hand Range Rover or an LR3. I have no idea how reliable they are though, I am sure not as reliable as a Toyota.

Another vote here for Wrangler …. check my clips, and the flip :)))

I’m not sure about the event, as everyone these days after a trip or two call themselves a “4×4 club”. Most even don’t carry safety recovery kits or practice safe driving when going up or down a dune.

P.S: I’ve installed a roll-cage, 4-point harness, fuel cell and a master cut-off switch for the battery in my beast so that I can afford to flip in it without getting heart or BBQ to death :)

Dude are you the one with the LS1 engine??

  15. 15. Mark | April 8th, 2009 at 11:06 pm

Hey just watched the video, you are the one with the LS1 engine. We were watching some of your videos on YouTube last thursday in the Diwaniya. The engine sounds unbelievable where did you get the engine swap done?

    mark ,

ssstallion took me to Bou Rashed garage in Shuwaikh> This guy will put in any engine into any car . We saw a Nissan pick up truck (similar to the toyota Hilux) with a toyota supra twin turbo engine. A nissan with a toyota engine. He wil swap anything for the right amount of cash

    Mark,

Sorry for the late reply as I went to sleep after the post. and yes it has the LS-1 engine and there’s no sweeter sound that an LS-1 breathing thru open long-tube headers :)

I’ve been looking at doing that for some time, but after doing my homework I ended up going to KSA and did my hunting there as they’re years ahead of us when it comes to modifying 4×4 cars for dunes … my god they even have drag races on sand. The cars I’ve found were expensive, to those in KSA, but very reasonably prices to us living in Kuwait … I could even dare to call them bargains.

In Kuwait, they overcharge everything. They usually charge based on the “coolness” of you project rather than the amount of work needed to do it. And most of the time you need to guide the garage on every single detail on your project as any small problem fitting a certain part will stop the whole thing cus they don’t like to think creatively (I guess it has something to do with not guaranteeing their work!!!).

    Later,

    Abdulla
