Everything OK Commercial

Last month I went down to Beirut to film an MTC-Vodafone commercial and yesterday it was finally aired on TV. I just uploaded it on YouTube if anyone wants to watch it.

I couldn’t mention this before because I didn’t want to reveal too much but we managed to find and get the rights to the old Kuwaiti song “Everything OK“. Many of you might recognize it since I posted about it awhile back.

Pretty cool commercial. I was just wondering, did you pay everyone who appeared in the commercial, like the extras? Also, how did you manage to get that London policeman to be part of the commercial? Was he an actor or off-duty, or what? I’ve always wondered how these things work in the movie/tv making business.

  2. Mark says:

Yes every extra you see was paid. Even the ones that didn’t appear in the final cut were paid.

The London policeman was a Lebanese actor who looked British. He even had ginger hair which you can’t really see in the commercial. His uniform was shipped to us from a supplier in Paris.

FYI, it was all shot in Lebanon.

  3. Salo says:

    just a technical comment

there is an error in the post production done in this commercial , if you see the shot were the Egyptian guy who dances in the big skirt then it transitions to the shot of the umbrella , it’s very obvious that there is a jump between the two shots and it doesn’t transion smoothly

thats because the two shots were edited together using an editing program not CGI program , everything else looks ok!

  4. K.TheKuwaiti says:

    1. The guy travels too much.
    2. His wife is annoying ..

  5. eliedh says:

    I didn’t understand one word they said :s :s

  6. Mark says:

K: The wife was inspired from chandlers girlfriend on FRIENDS

  7. hmmm says:

So how do u acquire a song like that ? do u have to go to the artist and take permission and pay him a gazillion dollars or there some sort of organisation where u buy music rights ?

  11. Mark says:

Well you have to get rights to the music and the lyrics. Sometimes the rights are with the studio, sometimes the rights are with the artists, it varies.

  12. Amjad says:

Great commercial.. I liked it. very neat and well-done. Great job!

  13. Bubba says:

Sorry mark, that really sucked. I like the song with it’s original video clip but that was about it. This is just like having the song “shamma” on an add.

  16. gizmoshow says:

Talking about the music, sorry to tell you, but I felt it was not this great especially the words ok everyssings ok and even the ppl singing depressed me.

Everything else is wonderful i mean the shots, costumes, Good Job! In fact I like this street in Beyrouth, no wonder that it was chosen for the Ad.

    Just a thought….Bravo anyways LOL :D

  20. Salah Alarbash says:

Hey Mark, I just want to say congratulation on the air of the ad. It was so funny and nice surprise to hear the OK song sync in the ad.

Great job. However, I have to say that Angelo has a point on the shirt comment.

that MTC commercial from a couple years with the Kuwaiti leaving his meeting and walking all over the world with the cool music in the background was the coolest.
