Farah selling cat meat shawerma?
Someone emailed me telling me that the ministry shut down the Jahra branch of the Farah restaurant because it turned out they were catching street cats and using their meat for their shawerma. Today this news is in the papers and here is a link to an article from Al Rai Al Aam newspaper. [Link]
I think thats kinda sick but I am still curious to know if they were trying to pass it on as chicken or beef? I am also wondering what I would have rated it if I had tried it…

I believe that was the reason why Jahra are out of cat these days :P

Farah does not need to feed us cats. If it was cat meat, you would see more Koreans in front of it.

Well its not the first time i heard of that… There was a place in Bahrain that sold the ‘BEST’ shawermas in the country and then it got shut down by a raid…. turns out they were killing cats of the street and using their meat….
Oh and to answer your question Mark, it was chicken shawermas.
It is Farah restaurant and you can check it guys if you know any one in Jahra, i work in Sulaibiya and many people in my company live in Jahra and they were talking about it yesterday at work.

and another thing…mark, do you know for a fact that it is farah that is being referred to? the newspaper article did not mention farah at all…it wouldn’t be cool on your part if you didnt know for sure…especially with such an implicating title. the owners of farah are good people, they have been in the restaurant business for a long time now and i see no reason for them to start using cat meat all of a sudden…especially since they are relatively well off (its not like theyre looking to save some bucks).
referring to them in this way can have a negative effect on their reputation and in turn ruin their familly business…just wanted to check if you were sure.
is it that hard to read a post fully before commenting?
I mention in the post that the newspaper does not mention the restaurant name and its only based on what I was told.

Ewwwwwwww….reminds me of when the local chinese restaurant in my homestate was shut down for serving cat meat. Every time we eat chinese food in Kuwait (or what is SUPPOSED to be chinese food) I tell my husband I wonder if it’s really chicken or cat. It makes him GREEN every time!

is it really worth to catch stray cats and make it ready for shawerma? this is plain BS by news papers. they love to make such stories….like a person only identified as mk was arrested immediately after KAC 733 flight touched down kuwait coz he was flying into the country without taking a ticket clinging on to the tail of the aircraft….plain bs guyz…meat is really cheap in kuwait I reckon…

The Koran, despite not believing in it (me), specifically says you cannot eat animals that eat meat. Cats eat meat.
I could be wrong, but it also says you cannot eat animals that are covered in fur. So technically, yes its forbidden against Islam.
And we are disgusted because Cats are typically a domesticated animal, and cats off the street could have several potentially harmful strains of bacteria, from living off garbage. Cats also lick their own assholes.
This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard in my life. This is a rumor and whoever said it needs to burn in hell. YOu think employees of Farah are running around Jahra catching cats to cook them? LOL. Ya, that makes a WHOLE LOT of sense! It would take WAY more effort to do that than to buy mass produced meat off the market! And besides, Farah has been around for over 20 years! Ofcourse there are complaints, just like any other restaurant, but rarely are the complaints about the quality of the food! There are jealous people out there who will do ANYTHING to smear someone’s reputation! The owner of Farah is my father and we eat at Farah at least twice a week! You think my father would put cat meat on our dinner table?! That’s ridiculous. Get a life people. And don’t believe everything you read.
