Favorite Watches

Here are a couple of cool watches that I like and their prices in Kuwait:

Part of the Bvlgari Ergon line, it comes in two models, with and without the chronograph… but I prefer it with. The case is made of steel, the bracelet is a steel and rubber combo while the dial is made from black carbon fiber. Only the non-chrono version is on display in Kuwait but you can order the chrono version and its priced at around KD1,500.

The Panerai Luminor Chrono Daylight is definitely my favorite Panerai watch ever made. Sadly though its no longer available in Kuwait and according to the dealer you can’t even order it. Its a big watch made from steel and the diameter of the dial is 44mm. The price when available was around KD3,300.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore. The most expensive of the three coming in at KD7,000 for the steel version and KD7,500 for the titanium model. This is the ultimate watch to get. Its both classy and sporty at the same time and its distinctive octagon face makes the watch recognizable from a mile away. The dealer does offer a 25% discount which brings the price down to a mid sized car.

I like the Bvlgari the most! With the combination of carbon fiber and chrono! But for me I prefer the face of the clock to be larger!

By KD1,500, KD3,300 or even KD7,500…..you mean thousands right??, not hundreds…Please tell me its just Dinars or something much cheaper than a thousand or that you’ve just mistyped a couple of ZEROS beside the price.

i dont know why people go and buy watches at these prices….it does the same thing if u had a swatch or a casio

lfc don’t you have an offshore?? lol

There is a big difference between a swatch and a Bvlgari for example. Its like saying a Toyota Corolla and a Porsche 911 are the same, they both are cars and can get you from point A to point B.

who still wears watches anymore? I got used to checking time on my phone.

actually it would be funny to wear a really expensive watch bc most ppl wouldn’t really know how much it’s worth or they would think it’s a fake and ur lying.

just like they think ur car is tijary and used

you shouldnt buy a car or a watch if the purpose is to show off. it would be better if you buy a fake watch in that case.

Most people do not need to buy a watch to know the time ! you have one in your mobile !!! the watch now aday is a reflection of your taste and social status & wealt. The oposit is also true ! If you ee a fake watch on the on a wealthy & well known person you would think it is genuin.A geniun watch on the a simple person will always be concidered a fake one !!!!

Mark, I wanted to ask why are the watches on ads set to 10:08 ’cause I just noticed it in these pictures.

I already saw the link of the post related to this post, which talks about why most of the watches on ads are set to 10:08, but the link provided in that post isn’t working :-s … Could you please fix it? ’cause I’m really interested in reading the article.

its just cuz in most cases, the 10:10 or 10:08 doesnt come in the way of the brand of the watch or possibly any date/chronograph or anything in the 3-9 area…

In this case its a matter of case, when you buy this kind of watch you really like it and enjoy it! Its the same for cloths, shoes, and other items. There are things which are functional enough to do all you need to do, but it doesn’t stop you from buying nice clothes because you feel like it! These watches are extremely well made and have a lot of work put into it!

So Mark, you didn’t tell us which one are you going for….and What’s the most you’d pay for a watch?

  23. 23. bikeshed | June 20th, 2007 at 10:56 pm

Your choices are a bit predictable but I like the audemars RO with the rubber bezel and links, yachting or something like that it was called.

Why not go for an IWC or a Breguet…or a Tag for that matter…its as good a watch as any of the ones you’ve got. Better still, invest in an older timepiece.

At the end of the day, watches are one of the few forms of acceptable adornement for a man…and there is nothing wrong with spending money on a watch.

  24. 24. Mark | June 20th, 2007 at 11:05 pm

bikeshed I don’t have any of the watches above, these are just my favorites.

Regarding IWC, I actually have one of their Porsche design models. Its cool but in general their designs are pretty normal. Same goes for Tag, I find their designs boring.

Breguet I honestly don’t know much about, hadn’t heard of them until recently.

OK, I saw the Audemars Piguet Rubens Barrichello limited edition. The list price was KD33,000 but after discount I think it would go down to like KD25,000. There are 150 in the world and 4 pieces were in Kuwait, 2 already sold and 2 still left.

I held it in my hands and the thing weighs a ton, I cant find a figure online but it should be around 500-600 grams I think.
