First IS F in Kuwait?

Lexus ISF

A friend of mine just got his Lexus IS F. He had to import it from the States since the local dealer isn’t getting them. The car would sell like hotcakes if they did so its strange why they aren’t getting it.

It is an amazing car Loved it from the first site, getting the comfort of a lexus and the power within, he should try to take it to the The Gulf Run in november. DRIFT DRIFT DRIFT one word in mine. :>

Why they aren’t getting it is because this is an enthusiast car and maintaining it can be a 8itch!!….Its got a fluidic torque converter and as of all torque converters, tuning it will need Mr.Katsuaki’s best tech-boys.. and Al sayer cannot handle a twin turbo supra!!!!…

The F is gonna give the new M3 a run for its schnitzel!!

does it differ than the regular IS? I can’t see the difference

  11. 11. Salbader | August 28th, 2008 at 1:17 pm

    Q8diet.. ya it does,
    normal IS has 3.0L 230HP engine, the F means it has ( thanks to Yamaha ) a 5.0L 420HP V8
    plus a fancy body kit

5.0L DOHC V8 with Dual VVTi and direct injection and an 8-Speed!! Automatic tranny… But It only runs mid to high 13s at the quarter and dynos at around 330rwhp-ish… thats about 24% of drivetrain loss… pathetic and prolly very slooooow cuz of that nasty transmission

Lexus need a direct shift manual transmission or they should call it quits.

    Jaz:
Don’t jump to conclusions based on the numbers. We took it out for a couple of runs today, it is a very capable sports car that can hang in its class.

This is insane, why would anyone, in their right mind spend thousands and thousands of dollars importing an ugly 2008 mistubishi evolution/lancer look alike from the UNITED STATES aaaall the way to kuwait, and at the end not even being able to get an insurance on that car. Not to mention the amount money payed for customs, and trying to get a license for that damn thing. What will you do if your bumper gets knocked off, import a new for a thousand bucks? This is seriously ridiculous. For that amount of cash I’d get a better car (in preformance and looks) HERE in kuwait AND get an insurance. People REALLY want what they can’t get!(and some ppl are just too damn rich).

In the words of Will Smith “Too many people spend money they haven’t earned, to buy things they don’t want, to impress people they don’t like

    Omar:
I am not sure where you got your information from, but this car has insurance and licensing.

I have worked with Evo’s in the past .. and they are amazing cars to tune and drive. However, the IS-F isn’t a competitor to the Evo; it is much more comfortable, faster (in stock form) and reliable. Not to mention, replacement parts would take less time to get than a Evo (Bumper:~60 days | Transmission:~90 days) .

EEEE BU SLO7! Finally it has Arrived! about time.. Beats the New M3 People!

    K,

You could be right, but I seriously doubt any Kuwaiti insurance company would cover an imported car that isn’t even sold in kuwait. Where would they get spare parts from? In another country, its possible, but we’re talking about Kuwait here. I don’t think they’ll import spare parts.

Regarding the 08′ Evolution, I didn’t say it matched the lexus’s preformance. I just said it looked like it (from the rear at least, the front looks like an old honda accord or a mazda RX-8), but hey, everyone’s got their own taste. As for preformance, I personally think I can get a better preforming, easy to tune car here in Kuwait with the total amount of money spent on that Lexus, but thats my opinion. It’s a great car, but I dont think its worth importing, but thats just me.

Even the intro video on the website, looks cheap and fake… Nice use of color and fog, but really crappy video.

    Hi Mark,

Thought your readers might appreciate some pics from the Moscow Auto Show last week. Especially this strange snakeskin effect Audi and leaf pattern Lexus …. http://www.flickr.com/photos/yo_ghurt/2803258468/ …oh, and ‘da girls’ - still livin’ in the 70s over here!

    Cheers,

    Yo

Honestly, I expected more from this car. It’s a good car to drive daily on the streets, but it lacks the handling of an M3 on a track. Too much oversteer on corners. I guess it’s good for drifting.
I’m a satisfied Lexus IS 350 owner but I would take an M3 over the IS-F.
It’s their first performance car so can’t really criticize.

    yo_ghurt
    Thanks for the pics.

I really really have tried to like this car but did not succeed at doing so, the car is as bad as it is good, having driven the car a few times on the autobahn and through Switzerland, I’ve come to a conclusion that its more on par with the completely and utterly lunatic C63 AMG then precision built E92 M3, IMO there’s absolutely no competetion between the M3 and the IS-F, whilst a great car and crazy fun to drive, the IS-F lacks so much of the perfection that you get in the M3, the M3 is IMO still miles ahead of the IS-F just like the C63 AMG is, there are a few thing that I’d like to takeaway from the IS-F, things such as the gear change beep, I hate it, HATE IT!, the seats are not right, too comfy and all, and are not bucket seats, and just like jaz said up there, the car’s transmission is not good enough, the electronincs in the car eat up alot of its power, I’ve seen weaker results on the dyno results on rwhp, the traction control doesnt cut loose and is too much of a control freak and the same can be said for the LSD.

in the end the car is great fun to drive but is it worth the price tag…?, IMO nopes seriously not, the Vauxhal VXR-8 (not the lumina CR8 pricetag though), I’d take the M3 over any hot saloon in its price tag anyday!.

to the new owner, firstly congrats and secondly what you’ve done is just wasted all the money you could have spent on the Nissan GT-R, Insha Allah getting one very soon but not for use in Kuwait.
