Further issues with Showtime
Late last month I posted about how Showtime were still taking money from me every month even though I canceled my account. Well I finally spoke to a guy at Showtime who told me he would solve my problem by making sure they cancel my subscription and then refund me two months worth of subscription fees by the next day. I was like fine, great.
A few days later I call the guy up again telling him that I still hadn’t received the refund. He told me he had deposited the money into my account and it should be there. After further investigation it turns out the guy deposited my refund in the wrong account! He told me that its too late now and he couldn’t take it back and that I should contact the other person and try to get my money off of him. I told him I wouldn’t do that and that he should solve the problem. He then sarcastically told me fine, he would pay me the refund from his salary. I was like whatever you want to do, do it. I just want my refund.
Since that day I haven’t been able to get a hold of the guy again. He won’t return my calls and I have been leaving messages on his voice mail and still no reply. I don’t think my troubles with Showtime will ever finish.
update: I just got off the phone with the COO of Global Direct. He told me I will get my refund within the next 2 days. I told him that it wasn’t about the money but the actual process I had to go through to get my account canceled. He assured me that Showtime was going through a major restructuring of the customer service department and all the problems I faced will be fixed.

I told you last time, all he said was some sweet talk and it is no guarntee that he actually deposited anything in anyone’s account.
I doubt you will ever see your money back, complaint or no complaint, however my advice is try to minimze any automatic cuts from your salary for any service you get and only pay cash as a lumpsum, or monthly.

Walk to the showtime office, Grab something and leave.
if they ask, tell them you want your money back but since they won’t refund , you decided to personally come and take something from their office instead.
Drop it in your jeep and vroom vroom

Wael, whilst you are at it, perhaps you could change that stupid policy of me having to drive out to the middle of nowhere to cancel my subscription.
I went into that Salmiya branch, waited for 25 minutes to speak to a Customer Service Rep - only to be told that I couldn’t cancel in that branch.
Absolutely Pathetic Customer Service.

This issue needs to be brought to Sheikh Hamed’s attention. It is only then that some MAJOR corporate restructuring will be done!

We shall see how the COO does it, but the sad part is that the COO had to interfere for the fixes to be made! He shouldnt even be involved at all!
18. Mark | November 21st, 2006 at 5:59 pm
i know! I didnt even want to call him because the amount is like only KD30 but I thought it might be rude if I didn’t.
I mean you can imagine how messed up their customer support is if the COO has to interfere to fix things.

But at least it is a very positive move.

“He then sarcastically told me fine, he would pay me the refund from his salary. I was like whatever you want to do, do it. I just want my refund.”
Good for you. I hate this “give me pity, I don’t earn much” CRAP. Clearly if this guy made a mistake like this, he SHOULD be financially penalised. Stupid idiot f*cker. F*ck Showtime.

Wow, I was talking to co-workers about getting a DSL line and Showtime was suggested. After reading about their shabby customer service & refunding to someone else’s account, & then telling YOU to contact that person to get your money…unbelievable! Oh, yeah it is, this is Q8! Thanks for sharing your story. I definately don’t need to deal with more idiots in a ‘customer service’ department, it’s bad enough I have to share the highway & roads here with them! Guess I’ll be calling QualityNet instead.
