Géant hypermarket opening in Kuwait
Géant hypermarket will be opening in Kuwait at the 360 degrees mall in June 2009. Although Sultan Center purchased and took over the Géant franchise in Lebanon, Tamdeen Group will own the Géant chain in Kuwait.

Let’s hope the produce isn’t as rotten as that at Carrefour. They seem completely unbothered about how far gone some of their supposedly fresh fruit is. Very poor.

Geant will be on a lower end than TSC, so I wouldn’t call it competition, it will be directly competing with Carrefour though. It would be nice to have a high end supermarket in Kuwait. Even though I personally don’t mind going to SOME of the residential supermarkets, some of them can only be referred to as a chabra :p

Another one on the block coming in to wanton people off their last fils~!
On hindsight, at times I feel reccession has been a boon for low end or low cost retailers to set foot in places where they thought they couldnt tread before due to high rental costs and other exhorbitant overheads!

Geant in Q8…It is the French Company. They are not that good. I tour the gulf due to the type of business i do. I have been to their store in Dubai at Ibn Batuta Mall and the one in Bahrain and a number of them in Saudi. I really did not like them. I even heard that they shut down one of the store in saudi.
Well.. French stores has never been on the top of my list. just another franchise to the many more.
