Municipal authority calls for halt of bulldozing unlicensed planted plots

The Municipal Council recommended on Monday halt of bulldozing plots of lands that have been cultivated without obtaining advance permit from the relevant authorities.
The council, at a regular session headed by the Chairman Zaid Al-Azmi, with unanimous blessing, recommended the halt of the removal of plants and trees at such plots till introduction of amendments into the regulations regarding plantations off private houses.
The council approved the cabinet decision to change the name of the border region from Um-Qaser to Al-Buhaith, and referred a request by the Environment Public Authority (EPA) to name the north of Boubyan island as "the reserve of Mubarak Al-Kabeer" -- in reference to the late Amir, to a panel tasked with choosing names for public sites and regions.
The members of the council pondered various other procedural and bureaucratic matters related to maintenance of roads and water sewage systems.

I got in an accident in front of my house in Mishref because a neighbor's tree blocked the corner of the road completely, preventing either side of the road from seeing cars around the corner. My antenna was knocked off by a tree that had grown into the road in Surra. There's planting trees and then there's being irresponsible, most people aren't planting to "beautify" but are trying to show off that they have the money and time to hire someone to water and plan a garden in front of their house.

Also, these trees are basically watered by a driver leaving the hose on all day, allowing the water to run in the streets. I am living in a desert, why is water running down the road everywhere I go? We're using it like it will never run out.

As for Comment 54, maybe you don't notice the hordes of garbage workers that patrol the streets at 5AM picking up everything, working for almost no wages? Do you want them to work for 6 kd instead of 13 so they can hire more or should you just learn to stop littering?

I do agree with Akbar! However, the Government can just claim the land and use it for its benefits (aesthetics) without destruction!

on nature: kuwait is almost completely desert and people that try to greenify it are wasting a very limited resource called water that's subsidized by the government with the ecosystem paying the ultimate price. stopping excess use of water is the way to go and not trying to make sand dunes green.

an exception are plants that are naturally adapted to desert climes and need little water. these can and should be left alone where found.

on economic exploitation: slider station and its cohort should respect that they are not paying for the space outside their perimeter and should seek formal permission for anything beyond what they have 'rented'. its easier for the shisha smokers to see the girls too now so it should get more interesting.

that's not to mention those cute pilipinas that you are exploiting in the store.

I wish they would put as much attention to the garbage situation in this country .. I have to see it all over the streets walking to my car... piles after piles. But no... removing trees are more important.
