plastic is easier for kuwait to produce and cheaper, its a good move but its also a costly move for kuwait. plastic bags cheeper mor convienient. now what are people going to use for trashbags in those small trashcans

I was really surprised a month or two ago when i noticed that Mansoriya CO-OP was using biodegradable plastic (or what seemed like plastic) bags. They are the only CO-OP I have noticed so far doing this. I am very happy people are getting with the program. I don’t think they teach kids enough about the effects of pollution, conservation, global warming etc in school here.

It’s harder to carry, can’t hold enough shit, and will rip easily.

Plus with the way the bagger would place them inside it’s either gonna rip or gonna need more bags to be used and more time too.

..but hey, anything for the environment. =)

It’s a great initiative, but Kuwait needs to go farther, this is just not enough and may end up being more disastrous in the long run.

Plastic takes decades to degrade for sure, but putting paper bags without recycling means more trees cut, more desertification, etc.

At least a large portion of plastic bags are re-used at home, by the maid, etc.

The best campaign is to push people:
1- NOT to throw their sh** out of their car windows when they are done eating or whatever
2- Re-use the co-op plastic bags when shopping, or for transporting stuff, or whatever you can do. Re-use those plastic bags as trash bags in your toilet for ex.
3- Stop using small plastic bottles and instead use larger ones when you can. If you need to have water handy, re-use a water bottle or get a nice small container.

still, even if you throw away paper its still healthier for the environment compared to plastic which takes like 40 years or something to degrade.
