I am sorry but a simple kiss and a hug, is not making me hot.. Hard porn I can understand. It is ok, actually when you have seen it ones you have seen it all. When I was a kid, my mom always covered my eyes when they where kissing. So it is just like beeing home with mom, at the age of 7.

Thanks for the Open minded comment, yes for sure I am open minded, but I am also very pro the freedom of choice for each individual. Thats why I am an athiest, because I dont like to beeing told what to beleive. Every religion says we are the one thats right, it is like choosing from the cereal shelv at sultan center. But I do respect all for theire believs, as long as they dont stuff it down my throat, if you know what I mean.

Any way you can visit my blog, and we can continue there if you want, it is a very interesting subject. Better than a personal attach on my hair dresser...:-)

You know when we were kids and a kid does something bad, the parent punishes him. when the punishment takes place infront of us, it'll make us think twice before doing something bad in the future... its just that simple!
when someone rapes or kill a person and then get executed in public, it'll leave a bigger impact on the weak souls.. they'll think a 1000 times before doing something stupid.
and as a member of this society Im gonna feel more safe and secure when the rapist/murderer gets his dues. its only fair. a soul for a soul.

Now, the lovemaking scene is totally different. it'll only arouse you sexually and that isn't good (if you're not married). its against our beliefs as Muslims.. its just wrong, logically and morally.
after all we're humans, we should have more respect for ourselves than to be filmed and watched having sex on tv.

Santa

Guess what you will attract in Failaka, a lot of Kuwaiti who will drink and drive boats at the same time. That will be fun...
I respect the religion aspect of the argument. One thing I dont understand. as part of your religion it is not aloud to see kissing/love making on television. But chopping a person head of is ok...

For your information I have started to read the Koran (in english)just to figure out what it is all about...and hopefully learn someting. Personally I am a none beleiver, Atheist as we say..

Call me selfish, but I love my country and IMO we're not ready to relinquish control of alcohol. its against our religion and I personally think we're better off.
But, I'm all for making Failaka (a kuwaiti island) an open place, where You can find alcohol. to attract tourism and what not.

Now, about the arabic food, I NEVER eat anything related to arabic food when I'm on vacation... not even indian food (coz its kinda reminds me of our Kuwaiti food).. but thats not the point :P

The Abu Dhabi/Qatar alcohol system would be the logical thing to do... but logic went away on vacation and never came back

Santa
Yes your right I knew that Kuwait was non alcohol/drug country. And the first 3 months was dry for me personly. But after 3 years I am almost become a alcoholic and I promise you when I move I will not want to see another bottle of Red label. This is fine, but if you want to enjoy a meal with a nice bottle of red wine, you cant.

I think that Kuwait would be fare better off with a system like Abu dhabi, with lincens and small stores for expats. Then it would be nice to enjoy our stay and simulate a normal life away from home. If you travel to Paris, dont tell me you dont go to an Arab resturant to enjoy your favorite meal? It dosent meen you will eat so much that you will trow up on the street and act like a indulged fat ass...

Let us be frank, Kuwait needs to relax and stop beeing so afraid. In Norway we where protesting for a long time against Kebab and curry, now we have a vibrant city where we embraze the diversity of different culture's. I dont say you dont, but dont close the door to the future.

Did the comments suddenly turn into fashion commentary? Couture vs Culture?

This has been fascinating and boring at the same time... On one side of the boxing ring we have a bored expat who lashed out after 11 years of pent up anger (I seriously admire self-control that lasts that long) about Kuwait being boring yada yada yada... and on the other side we have Kuwaitis who can't begin to understand what life is like for expats here.

Yes, she was wrong to judge Kuwaitis by a few mall rats at Marina Mall (in the food court no less!).. but its also wrong for us to get so defensive without offering real answers.

The UK has less culture? That's a tad unfair.. In London alone, the number of exhibitions, music, art, sports events each week is overwhelming. Their museums should be listed as wonders of the world! But that's just London (and a few other big cities). The rest of the UK could be a suburban nightmare for all we know, straight of out Little Britain or the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

We are a small country, and we do have cultural events commensurate to our size and of course we could use more, and to compare us culturally to the UK - OF ALL PLACES!! - is insane. But like someone said earlier, the majority of the people here are simply not interested. There are many cultural activities available, and the turnout is often disappointing, maybe due to poor pre-event publicity. I don't know

We do have the potential, we just need to get our act together.

Finally, you thought this frustrated Brit girl was bad? Haven't you heard Kuwaitis vacationing in Cairo complain about Egyptians year after year? Now THAT I find even more appalling!
