Gulf Royal Chinese increase prices

When will this stop? A regular combo used to cost KD1.750 a few years ago at Gulf Royal Chinese in the Marina Mall food court and then they increased the price to KD1.950. Now they’ve increased it again and the new price for a regular combo with coke is KD2.250.

That’s quite expensive for a Chinese meal. I wonder what the hell is happening in Kuwait that made it this way?

Is it true that sometimes, its just the ‘hype’ of price increases in the market…that justifies places to increase prices of their own? Let me illustrate…Big companies like KDD have increased prices on most of their products. Consumers think ‘oh..this is some form of inflation’ Company B (say) increases their flour prices…Company C follows although there might be no justification. I know this all might seem as old news but i came back from the UK a week back..and this ‘inflation’ seems very noticeable to me. Its saddening really.

It’s called inflation my dear friends, standard economic term for a country with increased money savings.

If you read my post, you (might) observe the point I was trying to put across was ‘Hyped Inflation’. Its not about ‘basic’ economics (folks)…its about unjustified means.

You really eat there? Man, I quit eating there since they started incresing everything since like last year. I just quit eating chinese food at kuwait because:
1) Its either cooked by philipinos/hindis/(insert your foreign cheap worker nationality)/etc which doesn’t seem very relevant in knowing authentic chinese food, that’s my philosophy. The same goes for those sushi/japanese restuarants.
2) If you tried the taste of chinese food in china town, chicago, you’d know that what you’re eating here generally in the gulf area is not chinese food and its not food even!.
3) Want to get ripped off major time and have the trashiest food served to you? eat at Noodles, Shrimp lake at Ras Al salmiya or any of those chinese food restaurant at Fahahheel or Farwaniya behind Crown Plaza and you make sure to have your medical insurance ready for emergencies.
4) The only place I’d recommned in kuwait is if I remember is Tai chi or something, which is located at Hilton at Ras al Salmiya. I really enjoyed the food there and prices were fine too.

I’m amazed at how nad the Chinese food is in Kuwait considering the number of Chinese hookers in the country.

Gulf Royal Chinese was great 2 years before, but since then the start increasing their prices every 3 months !. Last time I was there me and my friends had exactly the same order we had a few months back and the bill was like double !
I still blame people, Kuwait is one of those countries where people just whine and do nothing for price increasing.

inflation in kuwait is above 6% in recent reports, which is why this is happening as the cost of everything is going up from raw materials to labor. As the dollar declines, staff will be requiring higher salaries as they are getting paid in KD. If there is anyone to blame here, its the central bank. They follow the US with more rate cuts and thus higher inflation, so expect more price hikes this year.
