Hot Hot Hot
Two days ago I posted about my PowerMac finally being upgraded, well I have run into a minor problem that requires more upgrading. Basically you can currently bake a cake inside my Mac because of the heat. I had one hard drive reporting a tempreture of 65 degrees celcius which is around 20 degrees hotter then usual. I don’t even know how hot my CPU is running but I am also guessing pretty fucking hot since you would burn your finger if you touched the CPU’s heatsink.
I am now trying to find ways to cool the interior of my case. Since its a Mac its not easy since the interior of the case isn’t standard by any means. I have found PCI slot fans but I can’t find one that will blow air in, most blow air out of the case which at the moment is not a priority. It is always better to over pressure the interior of the case then to underpressure. I also need to find a way to cool the hard drives, a way that doesn’t require screws since there is no place to screw anything in. Until this heat issue is solved my Mac won’t be on 24 hours a day, I will have to turn it on when I need to use it and off when I am done.

You could strap a heat sink to the hard disk… or run the machine with the case off for a while… or perhaps remove some drive bays at the front and install some internally blowing fans… hmmmm

Apple doesnt seem to have many generic parts manufacturers… shame, makes buying extras that much harder!

if i run the machine with case open there are 2 problems. 1) i will kill the air circulation and make things worse. 2) the powermac case open down to the ground, basically its like a door u pull down with the cpu and mother board on it.
the liquid cool cpu is for the g5s.

There are other alternatives to fans and heat sinks, have u looked into those?

You could try this:

1. Get a hard drive cooling fan, they are pretty small and fit underneath the drives.
2. You want the PCI fan to blow hot air out, your goal should be to bring in “fresh” air from the front of the system and.

OK, I will take pictures and post it. That way you guys have a better idea of the issues i have like for example i cant put anything underneath the drives because the drives are screwed to the bottom of the case. pictures will be posted soon.
