In Focus: Victorinox Kuwait

I’m a huge fan of Victorinox Swiss army knives and if I wasn’t so clumsy with sharp objects I would probably have a nice huge collection at home. Thing is I have three Swiss army knives and have managed to cut myself accidentally with all three (one of them pretty deep) so I’ve kinda kept my distance from them.

But that doesn’t mean I can’t admire the knives. They have some really great looking ones with my favorite being the bright emergency yellow RescueTool which I’ve had my eye on for a while now. Majority of people don’t know this but we have a pretty good Victorinox dealer here in Kuwait. The shop isn’t in the best location and the interior design is pretty crap (check photos below) but they do have a pretty huge collection.

The shop is called Shalimar Stores and they’re located in the ground floor of the mall right behind Johnny Rockets Salhiya. Prices of knives vary with the majority falling in between KD5 to KD15. They also carry Victorinox scissors, bags and watches as well. Their phone number is 22451270

I saw that as well, I think thats the Victorinox bags dealer since the shop Around the World sells travel bags. This dealer I mentioned used to be listed on the website as an official dealer back when they were located in their older showroom in the building that got demolished on Fahad Al Salem street. Thats how I found out about them back in like 2000. If you actually check the list of “representatives” in Kuwait they are listed there.

I’m glad that the store is in some cheap little shopping mall which also means that the prices will be reasonable as opposed to 360, Avenues or MM where they would jack up the prices so high that they’d end up going in a loss and shut down like Foot Locker in Marina Mall.

When I went to Switzerland last month I decided I had to bring back with me a Swiss army knife, so I bought the victoinox Hercules edition. Best knife I ever used.

I got my first knife from Switzerland when I went on a school ski trip back in 1989. Do schools nowadays still do ski trips?

  9. BAJS says:

I think they do Mark, although I have never went on one, I know Dasman Model School still does Ski Trips to Switzerland every year.

Yes, Foot Locker is shutting down in Marina Mall according to one of the sales girls.

I went to the official Victoronix store in Geneva. It’s amazing! They have all the knives and even limited edition knives. I got two and had my initials engraved on them. Such an excellent tool to keep with you, very useful.

I could’ve sworn that Jashanmal was their dealer in Kuwait and I stand corrected. Speaking of Jashanmal, it turns out that they have been in Kuwait for much longer than I expected. They opened in 1934 and Kuwait was their second branch after Basrah which was around since 1919!!

You should give Leatherman a try.
Leatherman Juice Xe6 is a really cool tool.
Also check out Victorinox Explorer, I use it almost every day.
I think there is a Victorinox shop in Kuwait City I don’t know the building name but its that building where Q8 books & Giordano is located.

Shouldn’t let a couple of love bites keep you from using your Swiss Army knives. In fact, some knife nuts say a knife isn’t truly yours until it cuts you. :)
I’ve cut myself with my Benchmade Mini Grip twice–badly–but it still goes everywhere with me.
And if I let getting cut (or even burned) decide what I was going to do, I’d never go in the kitchen again. LOL

  19. Melissa says:

Is the store behind Johnny Rockets Salhiya still there??
