Internet Connection Problem

I am posting from my iPhone since I have a problem with my Internet connection at home. I just renewed my connection with Qualitynet with an upgrade to 2MB and although everything was working fine now its not. I had a problem last year where my line couldn’t handle 2MB but it was supposedly fixed. Earlier today I was downloading perfectly fine at around 255KB/s but now its acting up again. Sucks to be without Internet.

3G iPhone? Or the previous one?

See, you are paying KD30 for 2mb but ur not happy or satisfy thus coz they (qnet) playing around. on the other hand you can pay an extra KD10 or 20 but with a decent connection and stable service & server.

    Pux,

I remeber in the early days in Saudia Arabia when there was no internet at all and they have to call an internet provider in Bahrain with a long distance call for a dial up !!

Frankom a hicup once a year come renewal time is not a big deal, I would rather stay with Qualitynet than move to FT or anything else. I am very satisfied and happy with Qualitynet.

I am using the original iPhone, can’t stand the E71 or any other phone now. With the upgrade to 2.0+ and appstore combined with unlimited internet with Zain the iPhone is an extremely practical internet device. Yeah I can’t forward SMS’s and I cant send MMS anymore but the pros outweigh the cons for me.

Mark, when you say earlier they resolved the issue with your line, does that mean that they did the loop test and results were clear for 2Mbps?

  21. 21. Mark | September 16th, 2008 at 9:45 am

I mean the problem turned out I couldn’t have an upload speed of 1MB only a little less than 512KB. So now my download speed it like 2MB but my upload is like 384KB.

  22. 22. snake | September 16th, 2008 at 10:10 am

i got both fast telco and qnet . both 1mb . fasttelco is faster some how more stable plus you get a static ip !!! but for gaming qnet kicks ass. plus

    payed 220kd qnet and 195kd for fast. around 18kd a month for 1mb .

in the past 3 month qnet was very bad . thats why i switched to fast telco and found out that qnet is still faster in gaming 300-280ms for fast and qnet is 220-230ms on the server i play in .. its not much but it means alot when u play.

  26. 26. Mark | September 16th, 2008 at 11:03 am

I used to say the iPhone sucks but once I connected unlimited internet to it plus got some cool apps I have to say there is no other phone that can compete with it (considering my needs that is)

I am using firmware 2.0.1 at the moment, still need to upgrade to 2.1

Google with funding and in collaboration from HSBC will be launching a number of satellites, to provide internet coverage to the entire world, I dunno how true this is, but this was coming from someone who works in the telecom industry…
think about it, in two years time when that project is complete, you could be getting decently priced internet from google, and much .. MUCH better speeds..

here’s a link to an article about my previous comment, on forbes nonetheless, so this is the real deal, just a matter of time..

Same problem with Zain!! when download through limewire or torrentz every now and then the connection stop… they don’t have the right to do that!!!

    Mark

You remember what I told you before? Even with the iPhone short comings it still feels like going back to the stone age if you use other phones :P

If you have apps crashing problems then you should upgrade to 2.1 if you can.

    Mark,
    i’m also running 2.0.1 iphone,
install BiteSms and you will be able to forward messages, lot better than the native SMS App,
BTW, how did you manage to get Zain to work with an unlimited Plan on the iphone ?
    appreciate your help,
